Isin't ISIS main goal to restabilish the Caliphad?
Ответить✝️
ОтветитьKing fouad of Egypt actually wanted it so much but the British stood in his way , they saw it would unite the Muslim World which they had other plans of exploitation to it .
ОтветитьCustodian of Mekke were Ottoman Turks, not the king of Hicaz. Before the ottomans were the Memluk Empire, which was also founded by Kipcak Turks. So for 900 years Turks hold and preserved the Caliphate peacefully.
ОтветитьI wonder why this channel always has a cute little character representing Jesus every time Jesus is mentioned but not Muhammad.
ОтветитьWhat about Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi's Caliphate?
ОтветитьThere was another claimant for the caliphate, although not recognized at all, but he claimed he was. I'm talking about none other than isis
ОтветитьISIS leader claimed himself as khalif.
ОтветитьIt’s taught (in Turkey) that Abdulmecid the 2nd was elected caliph (instead of Vahdeddin) was because the Grand National Assembly thought the guy was mostly had modernistic idea that they had too, for example his daughters were open considering the times and made his livings from paintings that he made by selling the paintings to museums in France. His job was to basically entertain the Muslim world (think him like a living mascot, of Islam)(he was meant to have no power amongst the government) but his charms (i’d guess) made some of the ministers buy him a horse (a Mustang iirc). Atatürk and other ministers and mayors worried that he would have influence in the government so the caliphate was abolished and they exiled him. And he wouldn’t probably have accepted fundamental things like switching to the Latin alphabet, integrating girls and boys in a class and many more other things.
ОтветитьWell sometimes a caliph does try to come around. Like Bagdaddy. He styled himself a caliph 😂
ОтветитьYou said everything but the real reason. Basically the title holds immense responsibilities and a caliphate is incompatible with the current world order. Obviously the west won’t allow it, and Saudi would become a pariah like North Korea and Iran.
ОтветитьThere is no Caliph if we don't count ISIS.
Ответитьgood thing there is no caliph nowadays. Imagine if the current king of Saudi Arabia were the caliph? With the amount of Muslims in western countries, all western countries would be groveling at his feet for oil AND would be begging him not to declare a holy war on them. For example, when those French cartoonists used their right of free speech.
ОтветитьBecause, the others were not honoroble and strong as Ottoman Sultans who ruled world for centuries if you check real Ottoman Empire's Justice system, Real Map and real soldier numbers...
ОтветитьBecause the last great Caliph got trashed by Mongols.
ОтветитьThis made me realize that a dynasty in CK3 still exists in power today
ОтветитьWell, until 2006 when ISIS established their 'caliphate'.
ОтветитьI may have asked myself this
But fun fact. NO
Unlike their forefather, I bet the Saudi royal family today would LOVE to have the title of Caliph in their dynasty. Probably for the best that they don’t. They’re not good people.
ОтветитьCaliph should be only from the prophet Mohammed PBUH tribe “Quraish”
ОтветитьMain reason is that after the Ottoman caliphs, there were no muslim powers powerful enough to claim that title that would satisfy the others. Arabs were never gonna stand for a non Arab caliphs like the Ottomans, but Turks, having tasted a Turkish caliphate, are unlikely to ever settle for another Arab caliphate
Ответить🎉
ОтветитьOkay, please do not get mad at me, but if the Muslim world got rid of the title of Caliph (the leader of Islam), then what's stopping Christians from getting rid of the title of Pope?
ОтветитьSure I wasn't bored yet, I am not in charge of any nation state, and I am a Catholic.
But it would've been nice to be asked.
How did the Ottomans come to the title in the first place? Simply by conquering Egypt and the Hejaz? I thought Caliphs had to be from Muhammad’s tribe, and the Ottomans just descended from a random Turkish beylik, right?
ОтветитьGood video. King Abdulaziz was recognised as a Caliph by the majority of Muslim civilians across the world, and a lot of people still admire him for not being a puppet to the west.
There was only one issue with the video. The way you pronounce “Caliph” isn’t “KAY-lif” and it’s instead pronounced as “kal-EEF” or “kal-EEFAH” and it made me laugh all throughout the video.
Today I learned it's pronounced kay-liph, not cal-liph.
ОтветитьNo Caliph
No Khagan
No Chinese Emperor
No Rome
All the four great imperial models are gone.
For the best. Except for the Rashidun Caliphate (first one), the rest were all posers anyway. A caliphate isn't a dynasty; it's a democratic dictatorship where a ruler is appointed for life. All these dynastic kingdom bootlickers can rot in hell.
ОтветитьThe there is another with the light of the x wing is such good attention to detail I felt I had to mention it
ОтветитьWhy is it that James Bisonette is never actually listed on the list of Paterson supporters?
ОтветитьHonestly, I think this is for the best, but it's still a disappointment that a unified Arab state was never created under Hussein bin Ali.
ОтветитьNah it’s because James Bizanete didn’t want to take the role
ОтветитьWe learn schools in Türkiye, Atatürk, after ottoman collapsed and republic found, want to remove sharia to secularism and forbid the changing secularism to any religious regime with laws, he took actions to achieve that removing sharia in that way noone can abuse religion. Otherwise we can be like countries ruled by sharia. He did the best thing with that move it was smart and realistic decision.
ОтветитьAs I listen carefully to the story and read the various comments, I come to the conclusion that the concept of the caliph and that of the religious leaders of the Muslim faith is that the caliph is more about political power rather than leadership for the Muslim faith. I also come to the conclusion that the concept of the caliph in practice is similar to what the Papacy of the Catholic Church was prior to the Reformation. Just my thoughts, feel free to differ.
And as always, History Matters manages to give a concise (and sometimes humorous) summary of major topics in our history. There are two topics that I would like to see covered. These are: What happened to the Etruscans?; and, The collapse of the Bronze Age.
Having sex slaves in a caliphate is outright evil satanic
ОтветитьHow can a secular government vacate a religious position legally?
ОтветитьI really don't know how to describe the feeling that arises from the realization of the fact that a title that's been alive for more than a millennium just died out a century ago.
ОтветитьDon't understand one word.
ОтветитьThe Caliphate system never ended in Morocco, and one of the titles of the King of morocco ever since the almiravid dynasty is Caliph
ОтветитьDJ CALIPH!!
ОтветитьA weak caliph would have been a puppet of foreign power. Partucularly british who had occupied majority of the islamic world.
ОтветитьIt was interesting to know you call them KAY-lif. We always call them ka-LEEF.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьI can't stand the Yankee Kayliff pronunciation that seems to be pernisciously seeping into English these days....
ОтветитьMy brother, the ottomans were not caliphs king Fuad couldn’t be a caliph, anybody out of the tribe or Quraish could never be a caliph.
ОтветитьThe Ottoman sultans never called themselves as Caliphs and they were not compatible to be ones for many religious reasons.
Only two Ottoman sultans ever claimed that they are Caliphs for specific reasons, one to put legitimacy for their wrong doings and the other is to prevent anyone from insulting them or criticizing them and to use the title as a means to interfere into Russian affairs claiming "I am caliph and any Muslim is under my protection." the same as what Russia did by claiming they are protecting the orthodox population that lives within the Ottoman empire.
the first Ottoman Sultan to claim to be Caliph is Selim the first, after brutally invading both Syria and Egypt, he wanted to put some legitimacy to his actions, but he was far from being legit in any way. and no, the Abbasid Caliph never transferred the title to him. it was a lie, because such an event is so important that it would need witnesses and historians to document it and that never happened.
the second one was Abdulhamid the second, the same one that literally allowed the west to invade, north Africa.
Not to mention religiously they can't be Caliphs, as these sultans did something known as shirk, they were Sufis who seek the help of the dead specifically "the prophet" which is a great sin in Islam, and none of them ever did Hajj, which is something they could have easily done, and it is a must in Islam so as long as you are able to. and one other condition is that they have to be Arab let alone of the Quraish blood and that is also for religious reasons.
If it was that easy to claim the title, then the Mamluks would have been called Caliphs as well, as they were in total control of the Abbasid Caliph and were the protectors of the three holy sites of Islam, but they never really were called that nor claimed it because the title is not some word to be thrown around. The Mamluk sultan Baibars reestablished the Abbasid caliphate in Cairo after its collapse in Baghdad.
