Where do you get your bearing kits from? Any recommendations?

Hi, i just open my pf6 050 on a vivaro 2015 1.6 120hp with 138000km. Also my frend has a 2015 trafic 1.6 90hp with 124000km and has a noisy gearbox. I think the pf6 is a weak gearbox.

Fantastic to watch, thank you so much for this. Silly question but is it only bearings and seals that are replaced when a gearbox is reconned ? What's the situation if a synchro ring is damaged or a gear itself ? Can you buy those bits ?

Great vid. I've got a oil leak from the selector shaft that moves the stick from side to side. Anyone know if it's a seal that can be replaced with box in situ or is ait an internal (gearbox out and apart) job??

What was the cause of the tight lever when you tried to refit the casing first time round?

How would you tell which shim goes where. One is slightly thicker than the other by 0.25mm

I raced BMWs for years and every three years the bearings in the gearbox would start to whine. They were originally filled with ATF, but if you used lightweight gear oil they lasted longer. Off to the breakers to source a used one. I tried to rebuild one once, but could never find a source for the bearings since ZF didn't sell them separately. I'm sure it would have been possible, but I didn't have the knowledge to source them. Watching this, he makes it look pretty easy, but imagine all the ways you could mess up during that job! Well done.

Great vid, but surely a blind bearing puller ( £30 ) and a press would be a little more sympathetic to the gearbox casing rather than a massive lump hammer....😩
And a parts tray to keep things in order

Someone once told me these gearboxes are derived from a Renault Laguna and can't cope with the torque? Mine went at 80k now needs doing again at 120k!

I'd be happier if the bearing seats were pressed in rather than hammered into place ...

I just took a Renault TL4 box apart (which seems to look identical) to replace 3rd and 4th gear synchros and fit a blackline LSD. Was good fun, first time I've done anything with a box other than remove to do clutch etc. Input shaft top nut was fun!

I didn't click the dislike because i like SRUK. I did not like this video because it was to long. Rob and Chris put out 3 videos a week and they are short because they time-lapse all the hard work. Do we want 39 minutes of Josh building a gearbox or do we want a 1 hour video of Rob and Chris installing it?

I've got a vivaro rob on a 57 plate and every now and again it anuissance to get into second but saying that it has covered 165,000 miles I drop the oil every 10 thousand on the engine and filter you know what mate I've had new transits and they have given me more grief than this one has I'll keep this until something major goes like before I part with it... Loved the footage here... keep it rolling mate! 👍

It seems that a thorough wash would be the first step- it's a lot easier to pressure wash the main housing and get all that road grit off when it's still one sealed up unit.
