In this video we 'grain' insights about the "Power of Hunger" from John McDougall, MD's book, "The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss". We'll learn how honoring our innate wisdom is the key to slimming down without the pain of being hungry!

Plus a recipe demo of Mary McDougall's "Grain Salad" from page 244 of the same book:

🌾 GRAIN SALAD 🌾
Servings: 4
Prep time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS
3 cups cooked grains (we're using barley since that's Mary's top recommendation...and also rice, millet, and quinoa) ***use 1.5 cups of dry barley to get 3 cups cooked barley***
2 medium zucchini, halved and sliced
2 cups frozen corn kernels, thawed
1/4 cup chopped scallion
1/4 cup packed chopped fresh basil, dill, or cilantro
1/3 oil-free dressing*

DIRECTIONS
Combine everything and mix well. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate and eat within 3-5 days.

*For our dressing, we'll use one from Shane & Simple (he makes a lot of tasty food!): https://shaneandsimple.com/oil-free-salad-dressing/
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
3 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp nutritional yeast
(omitting 1/2 tsp each of dried oregano and basil because I'm not a fan of dried herbs and we're using gorgeous fresh herbs in our salad anyway!)
