In a three month period of more than ten regular players out on injuries, no rotation and three games a week would be difficult for any team. Do you remember City’s few weeks with injuries? Now imagine that times three.

Everyone who knew the situation the team was in knew that the losses against Liverpool and Villa were almost certainly going to happen. Tottenham isn’t running out of gas. They have been out of gas for months. The fact that they were able to get a goal against any side with fit and well rested players is remarkable.

I really hate this Ten hag narrative! The guy did win two trophies in two years, and it’s not like they’ve been pulling up any tree since he’s gone. It’s time that people really reassess the job that he did. History will be very kind on him, just like it has been with all previous United managers.

I feel for Spurs a bit. As a Newcastle fan, we had the same dilemma last year. The worst injury list in the league (based on number of days lost), Champions League football, an aggressive high pressing style, and a 10-month ban for Tonali. We DID still finish 7th, though.

Ange is arrogant all he does is to fight with supporters and journalist. How can he say the players giving of their best. I that is the best. He say that he don't have the luxury of rotating his players. Tell me he as a left back like Regulion why does he not pay him.
He is the worst Spurs manager, he superceded Christine Gross.

Spurs need to get to the root of what's been causing these injuries and fix that, if it's Ange's training or style of play, if it's the incompetence of the medical team, or the mixture of both. Someone needs to be held responsible for this ridiculous mess.

I am a Spurs season ticket holder. There are three questions Ayo has not asked. 1. Is Ange a good coach? 2. Is Ange a factor in causing some of the injuries - ie: muscle injuries and 3. Could a better coach have rotated better throughout the season and got a better tune of the current available squad - eg; Leaving Djed Spence out of the UEFA EL squad now seems a bad mistake. Answers on a postcard please to Barry Kendler - unhappy season ticket holder who still has seven more home games to ENDURE.

Artetas had what? Five years at Arsenal and only in the last few have they finished in the top four. No Champions League title, No Premiership. Five years, to build a team that can ‘challenge’ for titles and cups…..

Maybe the problem at Spurs isn’t the world class and formerly successful, winning managers ,but the fact that some Spurs fans (and Levy) never give any manager long enough in the job to build a squad that can actually win things and have long term, sustained success…..

They were never going to beat Liverpool but could have tried harder in defeat.
Could have tried harder at Villa, just defending better, but there is no coaching on the defence.
What a wasted chance looking at the draw now.
No chance in the Europa league with the same tactics.

Some say Spurs are currently missing a certain type of player due to those three transfer windows about 4 years ago where they didn't buy anyone at all. They are now missing a core of players who would have been in the team for a few years and would be able to provide both energy and experience, and would be aged 24-29. They have a few very experienced players in Richarlison, Son and Davies, but they are too old to provide the energy, and the rest are new to the team or very young. There is no CORE that have become a Spurs team. This is the other reason why the rebuild is painful and will not bear fruit for at least a year from now.

@MrSpurs
@MrSpurs - 11.02.2025 16:57

The Cup narrative was always built on rocky foundations - it was more about timing rather than performance, although in the Carabao we had done well to progress. What Ange said post Villa is the reality, we cannot possibly perform at the levels we want to - the injury crisis has been too deep for too long…this isn’t a game of FIFA where you press the button and players sprint the whole match.

There is clearly a media agenda against us and has been for a while and this is compounding Ange’s fate and also warping the minds of fans. Let me talk you through my thinking:

The media are constantly piling in on us regarding the lack of winning anything. But why are we being singled out? The narrative the media spins around our club is completely disproportionate to other clubs. Where is the SkySports graphic on how long it’s been since clubs like Newcastle, Villa and Everton won a trophy? The conversation hardly exists around these teams.

Here's a list of the top 10 most successful English football clubs over the last 100 years, based on their trophy count:

1. Liverpool - 69 trophies
2. Manchester United- 67 trophies
3. Arsenal - 48 trophies
4. Manchester City - 36 trophies
5. Chelsea - 34 trophies
6. Aston Villa - 25 trophies
7. Everton - 24 trophies
8. Tottenham Hotspur - 17 trophies
9. Blackburn Rovers - 10 trophies
10. Newcastle United - 10 trophies

Considering our league position being similar to Everton’s, and Everton being historically more successful than us, why is there never any mass media coverage about them winning anything? Villa also. Never see it. I appreciate Levy has created a business model comparable to the worlds biggest clubs, which Villa, Everton, and Newcastle have failed to achieve, but why is there such focus on our lack of silverware when we realistically haven’t been really successful since the 1980’s? The media agenda heightens pressure, decreases our reputation and pulling power for players, potentially affects commercial deals and positions us in a way that is completely disproportionate to any other club. I don’t understand why this is never called out.

What level of experience players want to play for Tottenham ? There aren’t any world class players saying oh yeah ill play their, so its 2nd tier ok if you have 6 or a lot of not quite world class but Tottenham model is hope a youngster turns up who’s world class no real plan to go and buy one and never going to buy 7 players at 60m which is now the villa and Newcastle model

I don’t think wages are a problem, spurs need to find a manager who is actually good at his job. Arteta brought in average players and made them better. In time with consistency then you can afford the big wages and top champions league level players.

Yeah, it's all down to recruitment. So i must have imagined the purchases or loans of Vicario, Danso, Dragusin, Maddison, Tel, Gray, Bergvall, Werner, Solanke, Johnson, Odobert, Kinsky, Van de ven, Yang Min-hyeok, Solomon and Veliz. Also, Ange has only been at Spurs a little over 18 months, so that's nearly a new player every month. What are these pundits smoking?

Which managers only arrive at the very top levels in their late 50s? There's a reason Ange hasn't got to the Premier League until age 58. His methods and tactics simply don't scale to this level. His system was found out early on and Spurs havn't been competitive in the Prem since November 2023. Injuries have had an impact but they don't tell the whole story. Ange has been consistently out-managed by guys 10,15 sometimes 20 yrs younger than him in the Prem.

Yes injuries, but you miss out the reality that Ange has CAUSED the injuries with his system. This is no surprise. Same happened at Celtic and that was in a 12 team league. AND you are confused about why very young players are being bought. Levy will only sanction the purchase of young players because they will increase in value. (He's an investor) There is no football planning ahead at all. Its piecemeal investments in appreciating assets.

There is a disconnect at Spurs - the fans are paying the highest ticket prices in Europe, but yet the board pursue this policy of buying talented youngsters and seem allergic to buying any sort of experienced, seasoned, pros to help with the now. So its always 'we're building for the future, its a project etc etc' but the fans are still having to pay prices that are more aligned with being able to watch a league title and champions league chasing team - so it smacks of the board wanting it both ways: you (the fans) pay us the highest ticket prices in Europe now, while we'll give you a bunch of teenagers that 'might' come good in 3/4/5 years time, and when they do we'll sell them to Real Madrid anyway and the same process starts again - and Spurs fans continue to watch fans of other clubs enjoy seeing their clubs win trophies and challenge for honours. Yes the board spends a lot of money, but it is HOW that money is spent is what frustrates fans i think, it is never spent on the top level wages to attract the best players for the NOW.

Sorry the BOTTOM LINE is Ange cannot be judged under the current circumstance.
Tottenham can be criticised somewhat as Jack says with the amount spent to income on wages but even this can create huge issues when so called star players on big wages fail RE: N'Dombele so frankly I cannot blame Tottenham for going down the young player path at least when they progress can be sold for an upside because lets face it that's what is likely to happen and maybe just maybe Levy is thinking about the coming new squad cost rules which will take over from FFP and PSR.
There is a chance these young players or the ones we buy underneath the current crop can bring success and if we continue this project and the best young players around the world realise what we are doing are more likely to come here rather than elsewhere so for me the project is sound for finance and success on the pitch, don't forget winning the League cup in this country is a bit like winning the Champions League? Tottenham beat Man City Man Utd and Liverpool (1st leg) with injuries people should not forget that we are under extreme circumstances at the moment and it might be the same next year! that doesn't mean the project is wrong it's what's called variance but the here and now is over loaded in peoples minds and that can put so much pressure on clubs that they crumble to bad decisions (Manchester Utd) Levy will not crumble and for me we MUST continue with this project whether we keep the current manager or not but IMO we keep Ange UNTIL he's proven to fail.

I know it's your job to continue talking about this, but there's really nothing else to talk about. There's talent in the squad and a manager who is well liked and seems to have a vision. We have no idea if it's going to work or not, and that's purely because of injuries and exhaustion. This season is a write off. We can make a judgment next year.
