Im a righty, but mine typically hook right, not left. Thoughts?
Ответить👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьFinally someone explaining a bit what a duck hook is. Sounds more like me at hcp17, is it the same thing as 'overdrawing' the ball? Or does it also hit high on the face for some topspin? (hence the ducking?).
Ответитьtons of good players hit fades. this dude is idiotic.
ОтветитьMy duck hook came from my lower body. I was keeping my back leg stuck and not getting my knees close on follow through keeping my left arm bent!
Ответить🤯
ОтветитьI used to use a strong grip and swung with my arms , I hit my driver straight down the middle almost every time on the course and the range almost never would I miss a drive. Recently I developed a hook and the more I tried to fix it the worse it got , you tube videos seemed to make it even worse , I took your video and implemented a weaker grip, stopped hitting with the arms no forward slide , turn with the body all the way. Problem solved no hooks just long straight shots THANK YOU PAUL. What I think is crazy is that I had hit the driver so well for so long doing the opposite ? guess that is just golf
ОтветитьIt would’ve been helpful to know what a duck and pull hook looks like.
ОтветитьHey Paul, for the life of me I cannot get my wrists to roll over in the full swing but I have had some success by doing a 'body draw' if that makes sense. The right wrist rolls over slightly and the ball flight is fairly straight with sometimes a pull hook. Do you think I should try to roll over my wrists more? I have gone from 200 driver carry to 220 but I feel like I am still leaving distance on the table since I am in my 30s.
ОтветитьI like how you include examples for us lefties
ОтветитьI'm impressed. I appreciate how you speak to your audience. Thanks Paul! You summed up my issues, rude awkening...🙂
ОтветитьHoly smokes! It’s like you were spying on me! This instruction helped me tremendously. Thank you!👊🏽
ОтветитьVery helpful…..got a new issue. I try to come from inside and want to attack with AOA up so I think I tilted too much…..so how do I get the upward attack angle and yet not over tilt to right. When I hit up I get so much better distance but now I’m worried about the snaphook.
ОтветитьSúper..!!
Ответитьturn instead of shift, those are the exact words I needed to hear! thank you!
ОтветитьAmazing video! Thank u!
ОтветитьThank you Paul I just shot my best round after your advice and shot my pb of 180 I'm very happy 😊
Ответить"Ok. Average player." (turns volume up)
ОтветитьClub Attacks From The Inside 💪
Thanks 👍
It's working great 👍
I found on a few other videos the idea that you bring the arms down while you drive with the hips. Don’t LEAD with the hips too much. Bring the arms down at the same time as you drive with the hips, so the arms aren’t coming through really late. It’s that late arrival of the arms that causes the hook, club closed down a lot by the time it reaches the ball. So don’t be all hips and lazy with those arms. Get them both going together!
ОтветитьGreat video
Thank you
I'm a 4 handicap and I been struggling with my driver hitting to the left
I tried not to shift and turn instead as your teaching on this video and it made a huge difference.
Thank you 😊
Started golfing in 2018 and struggled with a giant slice for 2 years. I took about a year and a half - 2 years off when covid happened and played a lot of VR golf on my oculus. Came back this year and was magically hitting a draw! Now several months later im fighting a nasty hook with my long irons and woods. Havent even touched my driver... golf is hard
ОтветитьHi Paul, I already have a neutral grip and hit my irons well. When I hit fairway woods or the driver it turns to a pull or snap hook. Should I try a weaker grip?
Thanks in advance! ⛳🏌️
Hey dude... I have followed you for years and pretty much use your relaxed, easy swing... I have worked my hc down considerably, however, I have developed a substantial, basically what i call an overdraw... I basically control it somewhat by aiming down the right of my target line... of course this is ok, but when I need a straight or a fade, it doesn't work.... so my question is this.... can I basically change my grip to what shot shape I need for that hole? Would that be an easy fix If my swing path is frome the inside.. just change my grip based upon what shot shape I need?? Or should I just adjust my club face at address and swing the same?? Maybe I need to come out for a visit!!!
ОтветитьHi paul
This video came up as I was searching for help on why I was duck hooking a driver a couples times a round. It was very frustrating as it has been costing me to break 80. This vid basically cured issue for me as I now make sure I fire my hips through earlier. Went to the range and hit a few balls. Then played a round and didn’t hook the ball once entire round. This is such an easy fix for me to execute. Thank you for posting
Love the content Paul!! I've always had a pull hook as my miss and following this tip, I could feel the difference in my good shots vs my bad pull shots at the range today. I now realize how over the top is created with the upper body hitting the ball vs lower body swinging the club.
I've watched your content for a few years now and always end up coming back to your channel when I feel like I've lost my golf swing.
For a better player would coming in too much from the inside also account for a "blocked" shot? To be clear, I mean a shot that is basically straight and goes far but is well right of target? Oddly this is my problem with short irons (7-PW) but not other clubs???
ОтветитьThank you for this lesson, Paul. I'm about a 15 handicap, and I have struggled with a hook for YEARS and never heard that simple explanation you gave for the "duck-hook" player. I went to the range and practiced your "think turn, not shift" and hit about 15 beauties in a row! Excited to go play 18 in a few days. Thanks again.
ОтветитьI am a new devotee to your body swing technique. I hit my driver well but pull hook my irons. Have you seen this before?
ОтветитьEnjoy and try to apply your key swing thoughts. Any guidance on how close the ball is in your stance. I sense I stand too far from the ball. I haven’t seen a video on this if I recall.
ОтветитьVery helpful!!
ОтветитьPaul - do you have a video that goes into as much detail as this one does for how to stop slicing the ball? I know you talk about loose / rolling wrists , proper alignment , slowing down your swing , etc - when hitting a slice - just wonder if you have it all in one video - thanks
ОтветитьThinking the Bryds were also golfers? A tune that will help during my walk. For my drives, the left side of the course is hurting my game (which rarely shows up on the range) Turning helps fix so much, thank you for the clarity and the tip Paul!
ОтветитьGood evening sir. Great videos. Do you have a summer golf camp? I would pay for personal instructions from you. Please let me know.
ОтветитьPaul I can’t fix my grip it feels so foreign my body won’t let it happen.. what do I do?
ОтветитьStill one of the best instructors anywhere. Both Vegas and Texas have been blazing hot this summer!
ОтветитьPaul, thanks for the great lessons. I'm hitting em better than ever! My prob was mostly sliding/over the top arms leading to slice rather than pull but this lesson helps me understand the swing. Been hitting a nice draw with higher swing speed...and most importantly my arm doesn't hurt anymore! Cheers!
ОтветитьHinge the driver as much as the irons?
ОтветитьSnap hooks are my big miss with driver. I tend to hit it straight or slight draw. I have a neutral grip but will sometimes get 1-2 hooks in a round. They usually happen after I’ve just pushed one out to the right so I overcompensate and close face too much next time I hit driver.
ОтветитьFinally see a video I have been waiting for!!! Thank you so much for explaining so clearly what had happened to my swing (driver). I am not sure whether I am the 'better player' as you described to have duck hook, yet yes I do have stronger grip, which I need to fix. Can you explain a little more about the 6 degree, or 2 or 4 degrees extra? what degrees are these ? In addition, can the duck hook be fixed by moving the ball position backwards a little?
Thank you very much.
I love the details that describe the results from a faulty grip and/or swing path (yup, mechanical engineer here). My on-course problems are when I begin thinking distance... I begin to slide and tighten up. Too fast and I'm hooking, arms too tight and I'm pushing right. I know this now, and I need to create a list of reminders and tape it to my golf bag (TURN... RELAX... 50%...). You're the best Paul, thank you!
ОтветитьSometimes I feel like you’re basing your lessons off of my game. Thanks, as always, Paul!
ОтветитьWonderful
ОтветитьIve had good success with your body swing and shutting the arms off for distance. On occasion I fire my body first but get some dead straight long left drives as a righty, no hook, just straight left.
I know some how the clubface is square to the path but not sure why if im swinging with the bodies in so straight left.
Thank you Paul
ОтветитьHey Paul great video as always. I had a question. So I been pretty good with my irons lately. Hitting a 6 iron dead straight about 190-200 but when I hit driver it will go straight but I'm only getting maybe 220 carry out of it. Do you have any idea what I'm doing
ОтветитьThanks 🙏 Paul. I’ll be trying this. Excellent tip as usual.
