Cyberpunk: Night City Deep Dive (History, Gangs, Neighborhoods)

This game's actually worth buying and playing now for those who never got it when it was new. I was put off by the buggy release and all the criticism plus the high price. Now it's cheap and bug-free, definitely worth the £40 and the DLC too.

I watched this video to hype myself up for CP2077 2.0, and I learned so much about Night City I couldn't grasp from just playing the game. Kinda sad, the Atlantis isn't around anymore.

Truly a thought provoking genre nothing bad to say about it except for the fact that at the same time, it is bittersweet because it's the start of the downfall of human civilization.

A terrifying outcome, a dystopian civilization and tbh, I think we are becoming that same dystopian civilization.

Being normal is frown upon this days, it's a start.

Lets hope hollywood doesnt screw up the storytelling of "a day in the life of..." saga should they attempt to produce an actual film based on the original RPG.
Fast forward to 2023, we have the tech and the tools(and the AI) to produce engaging movies without sexual predatory producers. The seed has been planted, now Grow!

maglev subways are scary man the trains are capable of greater speeds but the tracks are electrified like have you ever seen someone fried smoking and on fire laying on train tracks? Yeah bro thats why. You electrocute the tracks when the trains are near so you'll never know when the tracks are 'hot' or not and its DC it'll grab you and keep you there till you smell like pulled pork.

And i wanna make a david's crew montage video and wrap it up with some 77 gameplay.. Im thinking this song and chippin' in would be a good audio track for it! Wow intresting to see the lore of cyberpunk is so vast you can really appreciate the IP knowing it has so much background story.

It's kinda wild how much of this is straight from Neuromancer. Names, places, organizations, gangs, characters often not even a different name. In the game whole plot points and whole character back stories. But Mike Pondsmith also made it his own. Like how Night City a part of Chiba, Japan from Neuromancer has become an American city built by a capitalist named Night to escape the rules and regulations of governments and create a capitalist utopia.

This video points out one of the truths about 90s RPG source books. They were the life blood of RPG publisher profits. They needed to be pumped out as quickly as possible. So you end up with a lot of half-baked or even goofy lore. Basically throwing everything at the wall to see what will stick. The more you needed to expand a particular topic the more likely you were to get just dumb stuff like 90% of the gangs in the 2020 Night City source book. CDPR did a good job of picking out the stuff with the most meat on the bone and extrapolating it to make a cohesive whole which never strays too far into the silly except as an occasional treat.

With the matter of the nuke used in Night City during the Fourth Corporate War. In RL the yield says it is a "Pocket Nuke" or Atom. Basically it is a demo nuke. During our Cold War there were plans to use them if the Soviets invaded Western Europe during the opening salvos of WW3 to slow the forward movements of the Soviet Army. The next yield level up were called "Davy Crockett's". Those were what was a "Tactical Battlefield" nuke Low Yield no more than 10 KT if my memory serves me correctly. I love your lore videos they are very in-depth and detailed.
