Neglected Diseases (Cerebro Global)

There’s a long list of diseases which receive relatively little funding for scientific study, often being tropical diseases which affect populations living in lower-income regions of the world. However, with global warming and international travel these diseases are moving and impacting much of the world’s higher-income regions as well.

For example, about half of the world’s population is now at risk of Dengue, a mosquito-borne illness which can at worst cause serious internal bleeding and even death.

The list of neglected diseases is actually quite long and includes those transmitted via viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and toxins; thus, there is a need for a variety of research efforts to uncover the secrets for each of them.

Finding cures for each of these conditions is important for everyone, as they impact quality of life for millions globally and can easily move from place to place with global travel.
