Meh, I think this was rated too high simply for the fact that he's Red. His team isn't really that great. Yeah, we've got all the starters, the original three, but that doesn't mean his team is great. And the Pikachu REALLY kills a lot of the power. Snorlax just isn't good, period. I'd rank him at A, and that's being generous.

Edit: Also, considering who IS in S tier (Cynthia), the power gap is immense. Red would be CRUSHED by Cynthia's team. No way should Red deserve to be in the same tier as someone that would body him.

Honestly Red was a much better fight than Cynthia. I remember facing off against Red as a kid. My first battle against Cynthia was in Black and White and I will admit I did get my ass whooped quite a bit but that's because I didn't know the typing of her Pokemon and I was still a relatively new player. Either way I don't even remember my battle against Cynthia in Pokemon Pearl.

Imo Red is a Pokémon trainer God. He’s the first character to be used in the game/ series and his team has all 3 starter final evolutions including an especially powerful Espeon ending his team with tanks like Snorlax and Lapras. He has strength to all other types and can switch out to go against any weakness (water type vs Charzard he change change to Venousor). He’s a GOATed trainer

I admit, I don't like Lapras the second water type, especially because of the fact that Blastoise already has Blizzard, I was better with Espeon

He should've been a champion, having a previous game protagonist as a champion is a lot better than just having some elite 4 guy getting up to this role.

Lest we not forget that one of his Pokémon is a NFE Pikachu. It's fast and pretty sure to get one hit, but as long as that hit isn't super effective, Pikachu is dead. Plus, half of his team is weak to Electric
