Definitely smaller portions and lots of small dishes as sides. Slow down to eat and drink herbal tea. Thanks for this. 😊x

My mother is japanese but we live in the netherlands, she is always talking about balance of food and we only eat at restaurants on special occasions, i eat alot but ive always managed to stay thin and at some point i was even underweight, i dont even sport beside school PE. I see some of these points back in the manner my mom teaches me and my sis

What is shown in many of the videos is food service and not home cooking. Even in Japan, people who frequently eat ramen and sushi are considered unhealthy. It is strange that foreigners who travel to Japan and talk about losing weight after eating ramen or curry with pork cutlets.

I live in the USA and I know many people who eat healthily. The USA is a huge country compared to other countries so there are different cultures. Lots of obese people here. Japan is mainly a homogenous Japanese-only (mainly) society. There is raw fish that is very risky in Japan which explains why many Japanese have food poisoning, gastritis, and botulism issues. Also, too salty which explains the high risk of cardiovascular diseases. The Japanese work until they die. Whereas in the Mediterranean diet areas, they eat healthier even though they may not be as "skinny." Skinny does not equate to healthier necessarily. They didn't say that in this video.

This video is just full of stereotypes. The main reason they are thing is because cost of living is extremely high there, and a lot of their food is imported due to lack of land for agriculture. Their food portion extremely small because resources are scarce so each bowl of ramen contains like 2 thin slices of meat.

Hi I am from Japan. I lived in Spain, US, France, and China. I disagree with almost all of arguments in this video. I love, cheese, chocolate, desserts, ice cream, and croissants. We do not eat these as normal practice. There are fewer greasy food in Japan. Snacking culture is not mainstream. I agree with these 2 points.

I lived in Japan and actually gained weight. Not a lot but I the food was amazing.
However, many Japanese only eat once or twice a day and stay active, so just the way ina Merida we favor anywhere from 3 to sometimes 6 sit and eats a day it’s not rocket science….

Why, in a documentary entitled "... According to Science", did I not hear a single reference to a scientific source? It is true that you bring a statistic about percentages of obesity, but your focus is the reasons. There have been endless studies about this subject, and I am not convinced that your conclusions are based upon them. Let's see the numbers showing that it is chopsticks.

In my first three years here in japan i gain weight little by little coz i am working as farmer and I eat a lot of rice. When i work as hotel housekeeping staff I'm loosing my weight every month coz i walk a lot and fast and my lunch is always late. Now i become caregiver i eat 3 times a day but my weight still the same, maybe its because i always stand and walk a lot everyday....
