CR-78 owner here (1 working, 2 dead for parts). Never done the individual outputs mod -- to be honest I have nightmares dealing with the wire wrap posts for the sequencer board that I swore I'd never open my working one again after MIDIfying it. You've convinced me the individual outputs are worth doing. One other interesting mod might be a multiturn/Vernier pot for the tempo for fine control -- you can see one on Dr. Mix's CR-78. Not sure if it's a multiturn pot or it's just the knob that's fine control.

This is the kind of thing that would turn out really awfully if the person did not know their 'onions'. Sam does of course so its brilliant. !!

Congrats 90% of this is reversible apart from those jacks but then how else will somebody buy this at some point in the decades to come in wonder what those holes wore as the label has peeled off and the jacks have been removed.
I am certainly amazed that something this old could then have all of the drum signals broken out almost like a digital drum set!

I think you made a beautifully elegant modification with the switched jacks. Having the outputs in the back like that can only be called a massive improvement. Those that complain about it don't understand the value of these devices and look at them as just a collector's object rather than a musical instrument.

Gary numan used this as his main drum sound on certain tracks. i would love one of these but alas , will have to mek doo wi the jdxi

I did exactly the same with my Dr. Böhm Drum Machine - wanted to have send/return to guitar pedals - but i was running in impedance problems as always... same with the automatic base witch i had to dimm down a lot, it workt finaly but getting noisy over all
