One adult should say NO to another adult, before going to court.
ОтветитьThank God the culture has changed!
Misogynistic patriarchy knew no boundaries.
At least he got it.
No one should be "flirting" and putting their hands on someone at work; especially a higher-up to a subordinate.
Now, say it louder for the rest of men.
A great teller of fairytales indeed.
Always a bit suspicious when old white men talk about women’s issues though.
We've raised two generations of kins inside so they don't gain any real functional social skills.
I don't discount true harassment. However, innocent flirting without expectation of reciprocity has been a part of human interaction for millennia -- it is not the same as harassment unless it's used as a power play.
When you essentially criminalize flirting and innocent social banter, you're going to doom a large portion of society to dying alone with too many cats, because every social interaction is a "trigger".
The emails are kind of damning 😬
ОтветитьHe's right, the culture has changed, at least in America.

ОтветитьI love Garrison Keillor! He is the best of the best!
ОтветитьInterresting: "All the women are strong; all the men are good-looking...." very interesting....
ОтветитьHubris and horniness has both benefited and brought down man a may. C'est la vie.
Ответитьholy f, this man is coma-inducing...
ОтветитьNo one asked for this
ОтветитьMPR was the only profitable public station because of him.
ОтветитьIn the 1970s Garrison Kiellor and Jim Ed Poole ran the Morning Show on KSJN-FM Minnesota Public Radio. We woke up with it and listened throughout the 1970s and 1980s. It was there News From Lake Wobegon developed into Prarie Home Companion, mostly ad-lib between music selections, news and weather. Radio popularity brought live performances around Minnesota and then a national audience on National Public Radio. Catch his latest novel, BOOM TOWN, a sort of Lake Wobegon epitaph.
ОтветитьHe is clearly still hurt by the situation. If i were he, I would not have done this interview, which was 90 percent about the 'incident, when there was so much more to talk about.
i mean, why do it ?
The culture changed for the worse. He's right. Back in 2016-2017 they went after every imperfect straight white male they could find across all major media platforms in America. They haven't been replaced since. He also was an amazing story teller and full of humor. I probably will go back and re-listen to his shows and watch the performances. NPR is complete garbage and has been going downhill since intersectionality/oppression olympics took over in 2015...
ОтветитьI had a married female boss all over me for a year. Most people thought it funny. I quit.
Now she's divorced living with another former employee.
He says he never kissed her or touched her inapropriately. I believe him. I don't take the line that she was too scared to say no because it might jeopardize her job. The thing to have done if she felt things were becoming inaproriate, would be to take him aside and tell him she felt uncomfortable with whatever he was doing. Then if the behavour didn't stop, take it up a level. Maybe use a witness etc. If she did get fired, then go directly to the media. But it's always just a bit suspicious when someone comes out of nowhere and makes accusations., especially when it's about flirting. Can we no longer flirt or are we to ask permission?
ОтветитьHe’s so incredible.❤
ОтветитьCBS With a Hit Job, imagine that
ОтветитьMy ex introduced me to PHC in the '80s (he was much older), and as I had been brought up Missouri Synod Lutheran, it resonated with me. I LOVED that show! That Garrison became a casualty of the MeToo nonsense is sad. Glad to see he is well!
ОтветитьEh. She wrote back. She was complicit
Ответитьhe didnt do anything wrong... but try to comfort someone... i agree these days you dont put your hands on no one. he's a sweet man and i love him
ОтветитьWhat a gross guy.
ОтветитьBRING HIM BACK! BRING HIM BACK!
ОтветитьBS!
ОтветитьPoor guy, the mob couldn't have come for a better person.
ОтветитьSuch a let down. Was unaware of this
ОтветитьI once stood beside him on the street outside the theatre after his show. He was cracking jokes with the surprised audience who were pouring out into the street, having his photo taken with them and offering them all hilarious and original advice. (“Do you think that that tee shirt is appropriate young man…?”)
Not for him a fast limo home.
God loves to use broken vessels.
ОтветитьLove you, Garrison. You've been such a gem for so many years in my life. May you have precious years going forward!
ОтветитьI hate CBS.
ОтветитьI'm not a great fan of Keillor, however CBS did what CBS does continuously and that is take someone they've been a friend to and ambush said friend! Such is life in CBSwobegone.
ОтветитьI loved Garrison 40 years ago and I love him today. His voice soothes me.
ОтветитьIf he'd quit and stayed gone the first time, he'd have stayed a fond memory. Instead he came back to become a bore and to use tax payer money to be a political hack.
ОтветитьThis was the weakest of the Me Too revelations to come out.

ОтветитьOMG! This is the Honda guy
ОтветитьI wonder if Minnesota Public Radio owed him some sort of pension that they didn't want to pay, and they put that woman up to charging him with misconduct. My understanding is that she was wearing a backless dress and that he put his hand on her back to comfort her and his hand moved up about six inches. They resolved it between them on the spot.
ОтветитьMPR - Minnesota Public Radio should handled that differently and the accuser should have put her foot down the first time he came on to her to end it.
PHC is far more important than someone's feelings or inactions.
Two great Minnesota humorists, Garrison Keillor and Al Franken were unjustly tarred and feathered.
ОтветитьFor the professional women who report, "I didn't know how to say, 'NO'." Maybe you should just try it! Be clear, say no and don't go along with something you don't like. I'll bet you still keep your job, and everyone will be happier.
ОтветитьAnother disgruntled employee looking for a payday.
ОтветитьThe “Relief of Keilor" was the watershed event that heralded the dawn of woke. It took place as the cabal against America started rearing its ugly snout ion Capitol Hill.
ОтветитьA face for radio.... Oh boy
ОтветитьI'm so glad to hear that Garrison K is still OK, & taking the 'brickbats' philosophically. I'd been wondering these years how that man who gave so much joy, humour & home-spun wisdom over so many years was getting on. As in so many person-made 'movements', "Me Too" gathered momentum, got over-excited & injustices resulted. I think Garrison is right: "the culture changed".
Good men have been 'butchered' as a result. I know whereof I speak.
He is obviously just an old man who is unable to come to terms with modern thinking and modern expectations for what is right and wrong behavior in employer/employee interactions. But it is really not that difficult. If your gut tells you it is wrong, then play it safe and do not do/say it.
