EU and Arab countries are together because in it neighbors are not TERRORIST. Pakistan harbors terrorists. South Asia can never be like EU until Pak gives up terrorism.

Very Easy Answer -No. Unlike the European Union SAARC nations don't share the same values. The countries who share same values (Islam in case of Afghan and Pakistan and Hinduism and Buddhism in case of India and Nepal) already have porous borders

Idea is good but deradicalization of Pakistan ,Afghanistan and Bangladesh to some extent is must otherwise we don’t share culture. All follow native culture but the three Islamic countries follow Arab culture. There is very little chance of cultural unity.

Sri Lanka is now focusing more on improving its relationships with south asian countries than with China and Eu. borders are now more open for south asian tourists as well. This gives me hope and sense of unity. I also bileve that afghanistan being united with south asia would be a huge strategic advantage because although afghanistan was ignored all these years it must be considered as part of south asia
