Great video as always. Thankyou Sir.
ОтветитьThanks for saving me a wad of cash I almost spent on a new starter! Very clear and informative presentation!! 🫡
ОтветитьPerfect explanation regarding the components and how to test them, my one just start doing this clicking, the starter and battery been tested already, but i been stuck on the next step and the next step is Solenoid. Thank you for this training:))
ОтветитьThank you found that it was a solenoid. Now to change it
ОтветитьThank you for the video. Easy to follow and really was a great help to me. Thanks a million. Cliff @64
ОтветитьGreat information! I'm not good at working on lawnmowers, but after watching this video I installed the solenoid in ten minutes with no problems. Awesome video, Thank you!
ОтветитьRob D.
ОтветитьHooked up battery wrong now new battery no click nothing wont start please help husqvarna yth2448
Ответитьgood video and informative I had the same problem but had no idea what was wrong now I know the issues
ОтветитьA starter solonoid is nothing more then an electro mechanical switch
You can reverse the 2 large 10 ga wires, and reverse the 2 smaller wires but only wire size for wire size, it dont matter what the poliarty is, its nothing more then a high current switch.
One other thing you should look at is rusty conectors and the body connections. Rust will cause resistance.
Thank you very much
ОтветитьWhat you used to engage the brake to start the engine with out sitting on the seat?
ОтветитьGreat video, I was having this problem today, will try this tomorrow, thanks.
ОтветитьMower fixed!!! Thanks
ОтветитьMy mower I can hear and feel the starter clicking. Does that mean its an issue with the starter? Or can that still be solenoid?
ОтветитьTo test the starter by connecting the starting directly to the battery, do you have to do anything else for it to crank, like put the parking break on or key in or anything?
ОтветитьHow do you know it's not a bad switch somewhere? Because it clicks?
ОтветитьThanks dude put a new battery in no click. Tried what you told me and it didn’t turn over so I’m guessing it’s the starter ! Thanks . I’ll be putting a new one in and hopefully my solenoid isn’t messed up too lol
ОтветитьCan you often get a bad solenoid out of the box? My Scott’s tractor wasn’t doing anything. No clicks. No cranks. Got a new solenoid and now it’s clicking but won’t crank the motor. When I jump the terminals it starts up. Driving myself crazy.
ОтветитьThis helped me so much
Im 13 and was left to do the lawn and it broke. I was able to start it up by myself and get it done. Then I got the part and installed it myself.
yeah how can you crank it while not in the seat?
ОтветитьYou could easily test for voltage on the starter side of the solenoid. I know most people don’t know anything about electrical testing but a simple 12v test light would have told you there is a bad solenoid
ОтветитьSnapper RE 110 - New Battery, New Solenoid - New Key Switch - New carburetor as it failed as they often do on the rear engine mowers - Added fuel shut off valve to better control flow of fuel and storage during winter - I have no sound upon turning of key trying to start the mower - Need to check the Starter next I suppose for power flow...
ОтветитьJust by running this test, the engine is now turning over? Is that strange?
Ответитьi've got a john deere x380 lawn tractor that seems to do this intermittently. I'm going to troubleshoot it using your procedure the next time I get clicks and no starter cycling.
ОтветитьI'm working on one now. It will start with the screwdriver this way but it doesn't click. When I turn the key I don't hear anything. Could this still mean its the solenoid?
ОтветитьThis is good for a quick and dirty test, but I think there’s a lot to gain by actually learning how to properly diagnose this circuit by showing how it actually works. That’s how we really learn.
ОтветитьYou always have the video I need when I'm about to make an expensive mistake. Solenoid goes for about $22 US and a starter lists in the $500 to $700 range. This vid did the trick! Thanks for all the work you have been putting into these videos for I don't know how many years.
ОтветитьSir, ❤ thank you!! My husband passed away last year, taking care of my home alone is overwhelming and expensive. He left me his barely used John Deere mower. I wasn’t thrilled but it beats pulling on a lawnmower starter rope. I’m 65yrs old. I’m a retired RN and used to be pretty strong but unless I begin weight training, my strength will no increase. So, I have never done engine work, pretty intimidating actually but this video and all of your positive information and ideas have given me pause to go down that path of learning. The solenoid on the tractor was dead. You have no idea what a joy and relief to have fixed the green machine myself!! Thank you so much, you have blessed a widow. You will have an extra measure of help from above for your generous service, my dear husband has rallied other heavenly beings to surround you with blessings for providing for his devoted wife. Thank you!!!❤
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьAll I can say is THANKS.
Ответить🙆🏻♀️OMG,
My lawnmower just got problems like this to day and just now, i try to cutting my grass, but my lawnmower don’t start😡😡
I replace new Battery about Two’s week ago. OMG I hope I can Fix’s this🙆🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️
Thanks for the Video !
I'm a new battery and new starter late to the party. Hopefully its the solenoid. Tried the screwdriver but nothing happened.
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Used the screwdriver as in the video, and it started. Will be using the video again when installing new solenoid. Thanks again!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьDonyboy, I'm going thru this same symptom on a Husqvarna Zero Turn. I've already swapped out the solenoid twice already and it seems that with each new solenoid it only fires up one time. I added a new starter also and a new switch. Even though the old one was clicking when I had benched tested it. I've not taken a screwdriver across the poles yet cause I was hoping to see a bad wire or something. I started watching your channel years ago and am never disappointed at your content.
ОтветитьI just touched a screwdriver to a live engine part. That is a big deal for me! Sending you a million likes. You just saved me a weeks worth of time getting this to the shop and a couple hundred bucks! Thank you for this!
ОтветитьI have the same issue but when I jump the solenoid the starter spins but doesn't engage engine to spin it. If I turn ignition key on
& jump the solenoid the starter doesn't spin.
Is it the ignition?
Great video! Do you have any vids on how to replace a starter on a D140? I can't figure out how to get the plastic housing off to access the starter. The bolts just keep spinning and it's driving me crazy!
ОтветитьThanks so much! Great troubleshooting advice.
ОтветитьWonderful video!!! Great information. Thank you so much for posting this. God bless you. John
ОтветитьI’ve replaced the solenoid, starter and battery and all I’m getting is the same clicking. Any ideas?
ОтветитьHi Dony. Thanks for another great video. I have a John Deere LX178 with Kawasaki engine. The starter has an on-board solenoid. Using your screwdriver method, I've confirmed that the solenoid has failed. How can I address this issue without replacing the entire starter/solenoid assembly? I just replaced the starter 2 years ago, so I'd like to squeeze a few more years out of it if possible. Cheers.
ОтветитьI got a question about the selenoid
If your shorting it to start the mower why then is the selenoid a needed part if as you said the red wire don't run strait to the starter so if a guy runs a switch of some type could this then work in place of said selenoid this is my question for you about the selenoid
I get a click from my fuel solenoid but that's it. No crack. All switches are known good. Battery , starter, and starter solenoid are all good. Fuses are good . Key switch good. All swapped out from a good running mower. Driving me nuts
ОтветитьThanks. Good info here, plus you sound like Martin Brodeur who seems to always lighten the mood when things go wrong. :^)
ОтветитьThank you so much. You saved me a lot of aggravation and money. Very informative and easy to follow.
ОтветитьWhat if I don’t even get a clicking noise and I replaced the key switch and battery
