i read or watched an interview about this scene and Patrick was told to do a love song or something like that and the cast had no idea what it was until the scene and the emotions on the faces are real. At 1 point you can see Moira bent over with a tissue and its cuts to another because she was acutely crying for real because of how beautiful it was.

This said has a lot more character depth than I ever anticipated. I thought Eugene Levy, probably another American Pie. I was pleasantly surprised with how hilarious and still thoughtful this entire show was. Well done from top to bottom

This moment of the show was so beautifully acted. From David's discomfort with the feeling of love, to Patrick's confidence in showing it, and Moira recognizing it, it's absolutely perfect

After this, when Moira said to david "he sees you for all that you are.", I totally lost it. Her character is insane but all of the most beautiful scenes involve her. Catherine is such a force.

Damn, the scene was simply magical. Sweet, funny and the feeling of being in love. Patrick was a real showman in the scene but David's reactions from begin to end was terrific. It's not easy to act as surprised, touched and proud all at the same time. Of course, Moira's presence enriched the scene even further. Some of the best actings on TV. It's not about being showy but it's about being effective and connected. Well-done.

seen this so many times, but only recently noticed the very subtle, but incredible moment that Moira wipes away her tears while just out of shot. So much meaning and warmth in that such a small moment. You see more every time you watch this show, which let’s face it is no bad thing ❤

I keep coming back and watching one of my all time favorite scenes, I loved this show, the whole cast was perfect. If someone serenaded me like this, I would faint, God your voice it is buttery 🥰

I think I just fell in love with Noah Reid. The face, the voice, the heart, oh gosh...

How many years later and I still can’t get enough of this scene. Yes, it’s a brilliant, tender declaration of love from Patrick and a sweet, soulful display of David being both vulnerable and rewarded. But it is Moira, and Ms. O’Hara’s boundless talent that almost steals the scene. When she touches his shoulder, dabs her eyes and utters in hushed euphoria “serenaded by his butter-voiced beau” that I am reminded of just how much a mother’s already monumental love intensifies when she is lucky enough to witness a gay son realizing he is in love with and equally loved by another kind amd worthy man. My own moment like this with my mother though not nearly as Hollywood idyllic was still just as heartfelt, maternally powerful and meaningful. Every gay person deserves nothing less.

Apparently no one knew Noah was going to sing it like this apart from Dan. The cast’s reactions are genuine. Catherine O’Hara’s reaction after the opening like of the song says it all.

Brought me to tears

This was such a beautiful moment in the series, this show was such a masterclass of a cast. Funny tidbid (from the behind the scenes), Moira (Catherine) actually couldn't stop crying during this scene, she had never heard Patrick (Noah) sing before. You can see how it switches from her holding a wine glass to holding a tissue at the end.
