Imagine if Trump were President during a Cuban Missile Crisis! We would all be toast. I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. 1960 Presidential candidates Nixon and Kennedy were both sentient rational people. We sure cannot say that about Presidential candidates today.

Eisenhower had a great assessment of the Soviets back then and how it reflects much of Russia today as far as probing and testing how far the West will respond to their actions even today

My great grandfather told me people felt Eisenhower was going to get America into wars being a decorated general and not holding back but my grandfather knew from serving Eisenhower knew the pain of seeing people die on the battlefield and would do everything in his power to keep America out of war and that’s what he did

Interesting to be a fly on the wall listening to these two giants during this historical event and hearing JFK addresses Ike as General.

Just curious ...why would he not call him Mr President instead of "General". Was this some kind of protocol . I have seen many ex-presidents called Mr President. They seemed to be friendly enough so it can't be a left handed put-down. Maybe I am reading too much into this.

Back when qualifications to be the US President was more than being perceived as having a lot of money or a previous acting career. Both men are intellegent and articulate. Why hasn't our education system and society produced leaders of this caliber.

People think it was just the "evil Soviets" who put nuclear bombs in Cuba so they can kill us, but as you heard in this video we had nuclear bombs in Turkey, those bombs could easily hit Russia. The Soviet Union putting bombs in Cuba was just a counter measure by them to ensure their safety.

this is why the US was once regarded as the single greatest nation in the world, led by powerful people glorifying freedom and democracy
