This is just another " we are the only one true church on earth" .and " you can't understand the bible without our priests / organisation. " This isn't biblical. Salvation isn't through a 'church organisation' it's through Jesus.

but the rcc says it is the true church. history says neither the rcc or orthodox churches existed in the first century.

Thank you. Im interest in orthodoxy but i cant found so much information, for example about fasting and diferents rules/traditions.

And the thing about the saints is something im not comfortable, I understand praying to them to ask to pray for us to God.
But so it is not bad when the people ask them specific things like "please Saint protect us" "pleasd Saint I need money" because in those cases they are asking them things that they should be asking to only God? (Instead of only asking to the Saints to pray for us to God for those things)

I became interested in Ethiopia with regards to Orthodox Christianity after a bible study where a video was shown with Ethiopians worshiping.

Where in the Bible does it say you can approach or speak to the father through priests and saints? How does the dogma back that up? Just wondering. Also wondering where the church got the idea that the priest can give people the Holy Spirit. Thank you! (I hope this doesn’t sound rude lol I just wrote my thoughts)

Please don't get caught up on denomination- all that will pass away. The Bible has all the teachings and it has not changed over the thousands of years. Focus on the Word.

Right now I'm a Catechumen. I attended an Orthodox Church in my city off and on for a couple of years. Coming from a non-orthodox background going to liturgy was a culture shock. The church i go to the liturgy is in mostly English with some parts in Old Slavonic. The rector goes on after baptism then Eurcharist shortly after as baptism washes the past sins away. I'll have to go to a couple of more classes to then make the choice of being baptized in the Orthodox Church.

I just can’t wrap my head around praying to a saint when i can pray to Jesus. Or confess to a priest. Or believe I’m going to hell if i don’t get baptized. It seems restrictive and controlling…and not in the parental love way. Hearing all of that just makes think of the law. Christ died so we can have more laws??? I’m just not rolling.

Roman Catholic here. I love the Orthodox Churches as they are also ancient (even among the 7 Orthodox Churches there are disagreements over minutia). I seriously doubt the minute differences that do exist will affect salvation....so don't worry about it too much. Just avoid the majority of the 45,000 + Protestant Churches at any cost... if you have a Catholic or Orthodox Church in your town.

A good rule of thumb is to not listen to someone that can't pronounce "filioque" or "papacy" and doesn't realize they are anathematizing their own councils and many Orthodox saints. Donatists should also be avoided...

Hi dear sister, I appreciate your passion to convince people to become Christians. However I believe that it is not our membership of a religious organization that brings us salvation. It is the our personal belief in Jesus Christ and the work of redemption he accomplished on the cross. I understand the importance of attending a true (biblical) church, however becoming Orthodox, Catholic or Protestant doesn’t make us Children of God and inherit eternal life or go to heaven. Because these divisions started after the third century. Before that Christians used to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ believed in His name and got baptized by the Holy Spirit and preached the gospel to unbelievers as Christian communities. Therefore our focus should be on our relationships to Jesus Christ and His words rather than religious organizations. Because Jesus Christ himself said I am the truth the Life and the way, no one can come to my Father except through me, John 14:7. Especially at these end times we should grow in our relationship with Christ through studying the word of God personally and through prayer. God bless you all!!

I am Seventh day adventist and that creed you just recited is just about what we believe but there are a lot of things I don't agree with, there is no way tradition could equal up to the word of God but I find this very interesting

Jasmine, thank you for your thoughts on the Orthodox Church. I am not Orthodox, but I am a follower of Jesus. I greatly respect the Orthodox faith and have friends who are Orthodox. The one thing that I would disagree with what you said is your comment that Mormons agree with the Nicene Creed. They do not agree with the Nicense because they do not believe in the Trinity. They do not believe that Jesus was Incarnate, the Word made flesh.

How about just listening to GOD, and what the MASTER Jesus just says instead of those who cant even listen to Jesus's commandment of not calling any FATHER but our Father in Heaven. Just as blind as those who call themselves rabbi...Man made ways to walk holy are not GOD's WAYS, do you even wonder why you all stand as Whitewashed Tombs, waterless clouds..no two can pray for sick and see them recover right then..and why you ask? because you walk in YOUR WAYS, not the ways of Jesus as HE JUST SAID, and ALL HE SAID.
