I have known this song for over 50 years but this is the first time I ever actually heard it or known its name.

At the basic school in the 80's there was a picture of Repin Burlaks on the Volga near this song in the book. In Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia.

The lead singer looks to be some two heads taller than any of the chorists. 😮 With that voice, he sure has one hell of a presence.

Harmonizing is explosive! Song of my childhood in Northern Canada & I am not Russian but my father, learned this song in WW11 when Russia was our ally and help end the 3rd Reich! He would play his violin and accordion and sing this song in Russian! He was in the RCAF/USAF - a thank you to Russia 🇷🇺 💚
