Longplay of Sonic Riders

A re-recording in much sharper 480p60fps 4:3 as opposed to 480i30fps in stretched 16:9. The gameplay is also much better.. I was actually ashamed how much I crashed into walls on my previous recording when I looked back at it last week.

This game is a lot like F-Zero GX in the sense that each new level leaves you a little overwhelmed and seems impossible at first, but through lots of retries and perfecting your gameplay you get better and better to the point where you beat the stage and move on to the next one. Nonetheless F-Zero is much more difficult as it had me stuck on some stages for over six hours whereas the longest I was stuck on a stage here was just two hours.

It's actually a fun game and with the tracks being so short, the graphics being fun, the music being unique in each stage and the gameplay being so engaging, I didn't have much of a problem restarting a single stage many many times.

THE ONE thing that bothered me immensely was finding out that being good at the game doesn't seem to necessarily increase your odds of winning. What do I mean by that? Well, I was stuck on Dark Desert for over two hours and I ended up watching my old footage to see how I did it back then. What I saw was some really poor performance and me crashing in walls constantly. I ended up winning the race during my old footage with a total time of 2'58"78 and the second place was 3'00"89. During the new footage, I ended up winning with a total time of 2'38"88..but this time the second place was 2'41"35! In videogame terminology you call this rubberbanding. It's when the CPU's speed is adjusted to your own to keep the race interesting. It's not a bad thing when used properly, but I feel like this game becomes unnecessarily difficult because of it. It's really frustrating doing a race track much more flawlessly and with much better time over your previous recording only to still fail for the track for over two hours. It seems that the only way to win some of these matches is to use a shortcut at the end of the track and hope your opponent doesn't, because the rest of the track he'll be behind you within less of a seconds distance no matter how well you play.

I wish Wave The Swallow hadn't placed an explosive on Sonic's Extreme Gear in the first place!!!! #>:(

My old sister snitched on me for playing GTA San Andreas.. they broke my game bc it was violent (ironic eh?) but they bought me this game. I was so mad but after a little while I ended up liking this game, too. 😂 I could never beat the race in the sky tho.

I rented Sonic Riders ps2 game two times at blockbuster when I was a teenager.

Hearing Storm's voice after watching the dub feels weird (I have never played a single Riders game ever)

This was the only racing game in this series I ever played and I dropped it so damn fast.
Idk if I was just bad at games growing up but I could not for the life of me get past Tails' level. The 2nd level of the game. Wanted to unlock Knuckles but all I got was frustration.
Edit: I also remember getting stuck on how to pronounce "Prix" in "Grande Prix" and my old man thought I was swearing when I didnt actually know.

This would be the perfect sonic spin off arcade game, it has arcade styled UI, it feels very arcade like with its speed style and design, plus I’m sure a well flesh out sonic riders arcade game would be so successful

Ah, the early 2000s on GameCube. Lots of long nights playing this with my friend. Tons of great games at that time, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, Baulder's Gate, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Jedi Outcast 2, etc.
