The illustration at the 8 minute mark shows spectral luminosity; but that is not the concept that you were discussing. The video is good, and I appreciate the work and explanations.
Chromatic aberration and the illustrations that show that concept fit the concept that you are attempting to describe. The OBAFGKM is a soectral classification scheme.
This is also a check to see how functional the YT comments can be. Will helpful advice presented in a respectful and constructive manner get people dog piled on?
The video and explanations on the technical aspects of reflex sights is productive and strongly needed. The opposite is derp. Videos like this that help explain reflex sights are what is needed. I respect that. Thank you.
This is a job well done in showing that some dots can be better for people with astigmatism . You pretty much nail it at the end by encouraging people to look through friends optics or at the lgs before buying to see if one works better for them . Ranking them though might be misinterpreted by some . Everybody’s eyes are different and it is not likely people with different astigmatisms will conclude the same as you . Nonetheless, the video is s great demonstration to show that there is a difference . I hope your experience applies to a vast majority of people with astigmatism. It’s definitely a well thought out starting point . Thank you . Nice vid
ОтветитьI wear no line trifocals. This may help me out when I start shopping for a red dot for my carry pistol.
ОтветитьPLEASE! Get somebody to make a red dot with polarized glass. I emailed Trijicon and Aimpoint and neither have even thought of it! Polarized is the only thing that mitigates the smudge.
ОтветитьCompetition shooter and licensed optician here. Very good work!
ОтветитьWhat do you call a mountain of cats? A meowntain.
ОтветитьI concur- the Delta Point Pro is terrible in terms of 'starburst'. Wish I'd seen this video before buying it. Lately Ive been running circle-dots with the central dot turned off and the circle just bright enough to see. That way I can look through the circle and see in detail what's in the center of it. I can easily center the target within the circle, where running the circle dot tyically obscures whats within the circle. The circle by itself is easier to 'find' when presenting than a dot and appears as a big dot up close - about 4 inches in diameter at about 25 feet and becomes easier to see through at greater distances out to as far as I'm likely to shoot with a handgun. With the 12 & 6 and 9 & 3 marks on the cicle its easy to approximate where a dot would be within it. On my rifles I use micro prisms or an LPVO for longer distances. Great video! Thanks.
ОтветитьI have good luck with a Holosun with the gold dot. It shows up better for me at lower brightness, and so looks crisper.
ОтветитьThat joke was awesome, my kids will love it
ОтветитьI have a Holosun Gold Dot that looks the best for me. I wish Holosun would use this color more often but they only have one model that I am aware of.
ОтветитьSmaller dots, like 1 moa, seem to be better for my astigmatism than bigger dots.
ОтветитьInteresting that red is supposed to be better than green. I have several red dots and one green dot, a Holosun HE510. The green one appears to me to be the cleanest/crispest image of all of them.
ОтветитьSo why do all the articles on the internet say that green is better for astigmatism but you say red is better for astigmatism?
ОтветитьWhy did the student throw his watch? He wanted time to fly!
ОтветитьHow about the new Romeo X ? Didn't see it mentioned on this video.
ОтветитьGood Vid!
ОтветитьYep, same results I've found for red dot sights, turn them down as much as needed to reduce the "starry" effect, but still give you a good sight picture.
Some of the newer "solar" sights adjust the dot brightness automagically to the ambient light level, sometimes more than I would want them to. Manual controls are usually available on those.
Great Video. I have the same Problem as you. Can you please do a Video with the same topic for rifle insteeed of pistol. Would be really great.
Ответитьvery interesting...I find my Aimpoint C2 much better than my new EPS carry. I had the worst red dot experience with Vortex
ОтветитьEach eye is different 😎
ОтветитьSo enclosed seemed better?
ОтветитьRed dots are not a big problem with my astigmatism. I got used to it by now ( after 30 years) Its rifle scopes where I see double reticle lines or no line and that is not cool when you are trying to hit a target at 900 meters
ОтветитьThanks for doing this man. I have better than perfect vision but my astigmatism made me weary of buying another red dot ( had to trade my t2)
ОтветитьHeres what ive found. Larger dots kept at a lower brightness work the best for me. By far the clearest i found so far is rmr 6.5 moa. I dial it down till its just visible and its clear as can be. The 3.5 i can never get completely clear but better as i go lower brightness.
ОтветитьLove my C-Mores… 🍻
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you!
So, of course I have the Holosun 407 C, how couldn´t I?
And of course, this thing shines on me.
My question to you is, that if I have astigmathism, will I see the same as you, will I have the same results?
Can I go and get my one of your "best tested" and have a blast?
🤔
Any thoughts on the PA Holosun Chevron?
ОтветитьI have read red dot with autism
ОтветитьI have very mild astigmatism in my dominant eye and it interferes with red dots somewhat. Green dots are much crisper and work better for me.
ОтветитьThank you sir!! A very good presentation relative to this very contemporary issue.
ОтветитьI can't wait for the day that an etched retinal, prism sight gets small enough to mount on a slide.
ОтветитьWow, thanks, GREAT video
ОтветитьCorrection to your label that says Cycle, it’s Cyelee Cat Pro (you said but typo it)
ОтветитьDid you know you can't run through a campground? You have to ran, because it's past Tents
ОтветитьDid you misspeak when talking about the green vs. red? From my understanding, green is almost always the preferred option for someone with astigmatism. And the comments seem to suggest that as well.
ОтветитьWhy no green dots? I have a severe Astigmatism that isn’t correctable with glasses and graphed hard contacts are unaffordable at$3-5000. I’ve heard that green dots are said to work better with eyes like mine.
ОтветитьI have Keratoconus, which is like an Astigmatism turned up to 11, and I bought a Holosun 509T Green and its crystal clear. I was shocked because the red dot on my 507c is really distorted.
ОтветитьI've just sorta made peace with it.
ОтветитьAre there non prescription lens that can reduce or eliminate starburst of red dots when they are super bright?
ОтветитьI experienced the same with the 407, 2 moa but appears 4 moa or so. Y'all stay safe and keep shooting 🤙
ОтветитьWell done video. I would have liked more time to see the purple dot representing what you see. Also change it from purple to something brighter and easier to see. I didn't notice it until you were halfway through the sights.
I'm going to go look into that enclosed holosun now.
Why is there a pop tart but no mom tart? The pastryarchy!
ОтветитьYep last point is the best one he made. As annoying as it is just shoot more and learn to live with it. You shouldn’t be staring at your dot anyways.
Ответитьwhen u record the dot on a camera, it looks normal cus the cam doesnt have an astigmatism. so when u tell us "it looks like this" it literally looks like a normal dot. to reiterate, when those of us with an astigmatism look at your footage it doenst distort cus its not a single point of light emitting back to us, it just melds in with the rest of the footage and appears like it would to someone looking through the sight who doesnt have the eye issue.
ОтветитьThe thing about astigmatism, what looks bad to one might not look bad to another, astigmatism just isn’t the same from person to person. There are a few largely universal things though, larger dots typically appear more as intended and heavy notch filters (looking at you RMR) will largely cause a lot of distortion. I can tell you that I see less distortion using green than I do red with my astigmatism
Ответитьmy eps carry dot looks verryyyyy nice during the daytime but as soon as it gets dark it starburst like crazy lol
ОтветитьTypically those with astigmatism can see green better than red. I have great luck with the Swampfox greens. Also, at my last eye doc visit she actually adjusted my contact prescription so i could see red better
Ответитьwear glasses
ОтветитьI think you just explained to me how bad my eyes are. I don’t have a red dot on any of my pistols, rifles only. Maybe I should get over my reluctance and get an optic ready modern pistol and join everyone else.
ОтветитьI wish you would do some budget optics/guns for the folks that don't have patron dollars to use or unlimited cash . Like your channel too. :)
