On the third stretch you did, I can not raise or flex my toes like you did. I have no flexion in my feet because of foot drop

I was told by other physical therapist not to stretch the sciatic nerve it can irritate it so you should not really stretch ; it's only good in the short-term

Shouldn’t she half better posture while performing the exercise? Slouching seems like the last thing you want.

Thank you so much. My chiropractor gave me a few of these suggestions but as a dance instructor, my instant pain on loss of flexibility on my left side has been so frustrating. Months of been dealing with this. And I stretch during dance every day! But I was definitely feeling something different with that three parts of the second stretch! Hoping to figure this out and return to normal dance!

I thank you so much when it acts up I'm in so much pain walking, standing trying to sit or go lay down even in bed is so very painful. I will be doing these because as I write this I'm in pain. But my pain usually stops in the buttocks on either side ( alternately).and the leg(s) on that side is crampy. Thanks!

Dr Beckstrand, about 7 days ago I lifted a suitcase, followed by some yard work, and quickly felt the symptoms of sciatic nerve injury (had this issue about six years ago, suffered terribly, took injections, etc.) I have started doing these exercises about two days ago, and am beginning to experience some relief. However, the relief does not last very long. Am I expecting to be free of this too soon? I am still able to ride my road bike pain-free, so I assume I am not doing further injury when riding (rather not give that up!). In thinking about the cycling, I assume there is no weight on the sciatic nerve when riding (sitting). And last, I am 75 years old. What think ye? Thank you.

I watched this video yesterday, have been doing the exercises since and I've got to say this is the most comfortable I've been for at least six months,I've tried other exercises and routines and nothing has worked like this,I'm so glad I came across you 😁❤️

hi there i know this is 2 yrs old and i really hope you reply im dying here,haha im 53 when i was 27 or 28 i blew L4 L5 working manual labor my whole life so then at age 31 i blew c3 c4 in my neck,then a few yrs later at a new job i think i was 36 i blew every single disc in my neck then in 2015 i blew L3 and had to wait 9 months before surgery,worst pain ever,every time you stand up straight the pain shot down my legs,so now my left knee started hurting really bad,i had a injection in then it got worse come to find out you guessed it its sciatica so im going in for injections but its going to be a few wks,so my question to you,i have a bed that lifts in front and at feet but when i sleep on my back i wake up with my back hurting ,makes no sense ok then when i sleep on my side my neck hurts,but right now i cant sleep on my side because my knee is killing me,any ideas why sleeping on my back would make my back hurt and how should i try and set up my bed,and then when i go from back to side how should i adjust the bed,i wake up at 2am and cant go back to sleep then sleep all day,i need help thanks.

I have pain behind the knees when stretching my legs, been doing nerve glide after running but I’m going to try doing it more often to see if I can get better results.

Is it possible to do the exercises too often? What is the ideal amount of time to do these? I look forward to doing these…I have been suffering from pain due to bulging disc for too long. Injections and meds haven’t solved the problem.

I am a Cyclist I commute office wherever only by cycle I did multiple 200 km rides , and I play FootBall (Soccer) , Both is part of my life , But recently I had L5-S1 Extruded . I am 43 age male. I am recovering fast , My query is

1) Can I get back to my Cycling and FootBall? I mean do Cycling is Safe ? Occasional footBall (Soccer ) game ok ?
2) Do the Extruded Disc will goes back without any treatment (Surgery) just by following my stretches / Walk/ Yoga etc.

I've been dealing with pain that comes and goes for like the past year for some reason, probably because my scoliosis got worse, I don't know. But the pain came back yesterday and persisted when I woke up today. I saw this video and tried these exercises and now the pain is almost gone, or just very faint. Thank you so much! You're a lifesaver!

Excited to find your videos. After doing a few of your exercises tonight (with hubby assistance) my opposite side felt like I needed to pop it. It was excruciating!! Is this common?? I was so thankful we got (I guess my hip) the opposite side to pop and boy did it. My hubby and daughter heard it pop and it was loud. Kinda made me worried. Any advise or knowledge would be appreciated. Thank you.

I had bulged disc L5S1 which cause severe pain from right side of lower back, down right glute and down hamstring to foot. I had surgery on it in 2011. It's been fine since then but about 3 months ago I had same pain but this time it's down in front of lower right leg and shifts from outside of lower leg by calve to front of lower leg on shin and down to my right foot. I don't feel pain in glute or lower unless I use a ball as a massage. Sometimes the pain is so bad I can't walk or I shuffle my feet slowly.
Would you know any stretches or exercises to relieve that pain?

This is spot on! I have eliminated my sciatic pain completely a long time ago by stretching. These are some of the best exercises. I drink lemon water and stretch every morning upon wakening. Not just for sciatica though.

Get checked out though. In my case, I have degeneration of the discs. These exercises help a little... but ONLY a little. Next up, I probably need to lose a lot of weight to reduce the load on my lower back. And realistically, I will likely need surgery soon.

This man is amazing. I have been struggling with sciatica pain for the last few months. Rest and other exercises have done nothing to help. After doing these exercises three times yesterday I woke up today with no pain. I cannot believe it. Thank you so much! I feel so lucky to have come across this video.
