Creality K1 UPDATE: A Second Look... Worth It?

I wish instead of releasing new models of printers, Creality would stick to incremental improvements and quality of parts.

I had my extruder break in Ender 3 V2. I've seen a video about K1 that one person had his extruder gears fail. So perhaps parts like that could be made from best quality materials...

Why did you buy a 3d printer?

To print things to fix the 3d printer...

How can we know if the printer is the revised edition or not? Is there a build date code on the box? Asking as there is one available locally new in box for a very good price. Thanks

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS "COMPANY", you've been warned! They will send you broken stuff, tell you too fix it, then take forever to resolve anything. You might get a response within a day, they ask a question and do not respond to your issue. I'm still waiting on a refund from them from a 1500$ purchase over a month ago. Took two weeks to get a return label. They've received their defective products back & no refund or communication. The have failed at every aspect of being a business!

The forced marketing is a deal killer for me. BYE Creality. Hello Bambu.

Does it work with octoprint?

Is it worth it for 399 as is currently available?

I live in Perth Western Australia, I bought a K1 just a few days ago from JayCar Electronics, I have been looking at 3D printers for a few years now, I went to buy a $3 button battery, saw the new range of 3D printers, I asked a lot of questions, the K1 had everything I was looking for in a 3D printer, the price was $819 because of the Black Friday sales still on I got it for $650 which I thought was ok, plus I ended up with a $40 rewards credit.

I was undecided between the P1P and K1. It was close, but based on specs/features/reviews, I toppled towards P1P.

Unfortunately for Bambu, the Black Friday sale meant the K1 was $390 shipped vs $580 for the P1P, so... hoping I'll get slightly more than I paid for 😅

... but really, it only needs to be slightly better than my Prusa Mini+ to count as a win....

(I also have a Falcon2 from Creality, which boosted my confidence in trying one of their printers, but is also quite loud with the air assist. Otherwise, no idea what I would of got... maybe another Prusa, maybe an Elegoo, maybe stuck to my initial instinct and spent extra for the P1P... hard to say.)

Audio seems a little muffled.

Its $350 at Micro Center atleast in NY for Black friday and seemingly cyber monday sales. Picked it up as at that price i just can not resist the urge to finally jump into this hobby. Extremley exited and it looks soooooooo good in my room. Only complaint is it can get loud as it prints but i figure all of them are like that idk. Never even seen a 3d printer in my life so i have no reference lmao

Did they fix the issue with the top cover? Did they make it higher or do you still feel the need to take it off during printing?

Yeah I can't stand advertising. I was about to get this upgrade my cr-s10 pro but am really happy with the pi octoprint setup. Kills it for me

I just got a K1 with Black Friday sales, saved $234 on the K1 (paid $375 shipped) and a spool of Hyper PLA from Creality's store & picked up the AI Camera on Amazon for $21! I'm excited for all the projects I have in the wings. I currently have a modded Ender-3 v2 as a tinkering machine and the K1 will be my workhorse.

how do you see if you have a updated model ?

I like how throughout the video the Bambu P1S is sitting in the background, like a king on his throne. Sure this video is about the K1, but it isn't worth it to move the king.

Great review! I'm new into this, puzzles about how this printer decides on the resolution? PLA 0.1 or PLA 0.2, all the filament seems to be 1.75mm, so how is the resolution arrived at? Really appreciate any advice on that.

Ugh...Microcenter just put this printer on sale for $350. I'm REALLY wanting a Bambu Lab X1C, but kinda waiting on a price break. Strongly considering this to replace my old Ender 3 Pro. What to do...what to do?

I just bought the K1. After 2 demo prints, I re-sliced a file of mine and it came out almost perfect amd in 1/3rd the time! Whatever improvement they made worked. I was coming from Ender 3 Pro, which I had to babysit nearly all the time to get useable prints. So far, I'm glad I upgraded to the K1. Creality listened to its critics, made some improvements on the hardware, feature set, esthetics, build quality and software. Oh, did I mentioned SPEED! My son was trying to get me to buy the Bambu P1P, but in the end, everything pointed to the K1. Clearly a winner for me.

Thanks for the infos! Some good tips and updates (hinges, side spool holder). Will get and test one soon. Learned that you can now totally use fluid and Klipper without using their crappy app and slicer.
One more feedback: the music is a bit too loud. Check out epidemic sound if you don't know them - they have a great library of music pieces to use (and if you wanna use them, I got an affiliat link ;) greets from Austria, Mario

Software issues kept me from considering this printer. Now that they have opened it up as true open source, and have provided root access, I am seriously considering it. I'd like to see a schematic for the electronics, complete with processor type, and pinouts. If there is enough info to install generic linux and klipper on it, that would be great. However, just being able to fully configure klipper (which it appears is possible under the root access), is probably close enough for me. Was seriously considering building a Voron Trident, but the K1 with root access and all of the new fixes would be much less expensive and close enough.

I would've said the same at first...i felt let down with the bad extruder and unreliable hotend but since creality corrected them i have yet to get a failed print...its actually running as we speak and alot of times it runs overnight so I definitely recommend it now since the prints come out pretty good

I had an ender v1 and fiddled with that thing so much. I don't think Creality can make a printer that does not need a mod out of the box. On the flip side, they have a great user community though because it's just kind of a thing to mod your Creality which is one reason people like creality. I'm really on the fence with this one. I want it but my brain says no, you will end up tweaking it more than printing with it. Aarrrrggg. They never seemed to have good build quality. Am I nuts?

so they send a new k1 to reviwers but if youre a regular buyer who bought early then "too bad"

You see that Creality is desperate. This behaviour is the perfect example for this. Dont buy Creality machines. They are even using bots now for giving good comments on YT.

Can you print without using any of the cloud stuff? Id like to just slice and use an mmc or usb stick.

hi, first of all, thanks for your video. I am very knowledgeable as a K1 user. but my device is a problematic device. I couldn't find a filament that kept up with your speed, and my projects are always unfinished. and it turns out to be broken. I made and installed the project that entered the 45-degree header that we made at the entrance of the filament pipe. when the left goes to the very back, it bends and crushes the filament pipe, can an improvement be made related to this? otherwise, I will have to remove the part I made .

So why do people who buy this printer nowadays still complaining about clogging the extruder - what are they doing wrong?

I think they should make it so you can print more than one color and fix the slicer to where you can edit the settings, use them and not have it crash just because you want to print and make use of the transparent filament we are able to use

It's amazing how all the good reviews for Creality seem to be centered underneath this video! Maybe the bots that were summoned to post the overwhelmingly positive reviews should also avoid boasting about some of the shortcomings that we all know about, such as very poor after-sales service, etc.🤣🤣🤣
