2023 Honda Civic Type R vs Toyota GR Corolla // DRAG & ROLL RACE

I'm so glad to see the GR Corolla pull off the line, and beat the Civic Type R only at stock :)

I just saw the GR in Toyotas showroom and is pretty Nice. Thinking of getting one

We need to know about your tires. If you put the widest possible tire on the Honda, especially Michelin pilots, you might have enough grip to win from a dig. I’d like to at least know the comparison between vehicles as raced.

Awd ftw.. buddy swapped his Sti for a GR and will never go back to subie let’s say that. The time Toyota spent developing the hatch 🐣 really paid off. The car has tight handling and suspension yet it glides on the road and just was an amazing experience over any other car I’ve driven.

Same thing happened in my wrx sti, from a dig my sti was about 4-5 car length ahead of the type r, also I should add the roads were a little bit wet from light drizzle. Type r has better top end, and he started reeling me in and passed me at about 160kph. I like the honda, but living in Northern Canada, nothing can make me own another fwd car. If I lived in California or somewhere similar, I'd definitely consider owning one.

i wish the civic was AWD, it looks way better. the GR is fuckin ugly.

the roll race and turns is where the FL5 shines. from a dig? full bolt ons, smaller wheels and driver mod it’ll do put in work.

I drove a core version of the Corolla GR, loved it. They were asking $38k for it. The least expensive Type R I have seen around me was $45k.

Honda all the way. The 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder will be much more reliable long term than that 1.6L 3 cylinder on the Toyota.

Two of the best cars made in the last 20 years for common folk. Corolla GR being first, of course.

The Mustang & Camaro walk both in a straight line and around the track for less money. Easy choice.

The Toyota did not beat the Honda fair and square at a dig it's like you're comparing apples to oranges you can't they're not the same front-wheel drive cannot be compared to all-wheel drive so there's two ways you can look at this if the Honda Civic had all-wheel drive as well the Toyota would have lost both races hands down which tells you the Honda is the faster better car not if the Toyota only have front wheel drive the result would be fair and square when Honda again would beat the Toyota so conclusion it was not fair and square the cars have to be the same for to be fair and square either both cars have front wheel drive or the both cars have all wheel drive now that's fair sorry Toyota you just not as good as you were 20 years ago people need to quit living in the past

In reality, the Corolla GR has the drivetrain of the GR Yaris, so in truth, the GR Yaris would smoke the civic, outright..

It's funny how the Corolla is compared to the wrx spiritually, when in fact Toyota was racing celicas in wrc long before Subaru dropped their sti cars in around 1990. If anything, wrx's are an answer to Toyotas wins in wrc, which the new corolla is simply carrying on for Toyota, along with the yaris.
