Endwalker is FINE and The Downfall of Final Fantasy XIV is a Lie

Honestly, when I put in my jab, I didn't expect you to actually do it. I merely though "eh, there's a chance." "I have no idea who you are" kinda cemented that. I further didn't expect you to agree with me on personal or objective level. On any level.

I wanna further emphasize: This isn't about saying EW is fine because HW was bad. It's that if you want to call it "the worst," this is your competition. Every bad thing about EW, you have to also consider HW nearly killing the game before we could get this far.

To be clear, I 100% agree that there's a lack of rewards. I got all 17 ShB relics on content because I really liked Bozja, so I want that content back. Other thoughts on what EW did wrong - including some comments we get in the rest of this video. We aren't paying to play mid expansions. I agree 100%. No question. We deserve as best as they can do. But I agree that a HW2 would just kill the game, full stop. And we get there by blindly claiming EW is this super bad, no upside experience. It's not about that HW is bad in the lens of HW. It's that HW is bad in the lens of HW. We didn't like this stuff 8 years ago either.

I started late ARR into HW. I never killed Faust and didn't start savage raiding again til Alexander. I was content with the relic grind and other casual content. Story carried me through that time.

You can tell who's really new by this "EW is Dead" narrative. The only thing that saved SHB from having the same end-of-cycle malaise, and possibly more because of COVID delays, was the influx of big name streamers during the WOWpocalypse. We were logging in to see if we could get a glimpse of Asmon or watching the WOW Refugees sob their way through the MSQ we all know and love.

I also remember crafts being better to level with ARR leves for the first week or so. So much rushing to get all that done. hahaha

I just don't feel motivated to play right now but this reminds me exactly of waiting for Endwalker release. Just lots of good games to play instead rn.

Aetherial gear was a level above for Bard because of the bloodletter resets proccing off of crit dot ticks. In general it could roll higher stats, but even without that a bard piece with just high crit but nothing else could be comparable to raid BiS.

I do find that a lot of the arguments here are in bad faith as well, because heavensward was pretty early in the games lifespan. Endwalker benefits from years of iteration through multiple expansions… and it’s STILL pretty mid. Idk dude, I get that some people like the changes this game has gone through, but at the same time at least Heavensward took chances.

Something I disagree with Xeno about is that “player count equals better” comment he made.

Idk dude, just because the player count was high doesn’t mean that the changes that came with them doesn’t suck. 2 min rotations were made to get more people into raiding and it feels real bad how most player expression/job identity was removed to get here.

FF14 is doing fine regardless and pay no attention to the dumba** Asmongold, his piss poor allies/fan base and the rest of their mindless autistic critics.

I wouldn't say that the game is failing, it is more than fine. but the game goes in a direction that can become problematic in the future.
also, the endwalker story sucks ass, and many peopole who play this game are in for the story and casual content, so there's that

The Black Mage issue was not exclusive to HW. It was in ARR as well.

What honestly continues to bother the shit out of me, Yosi P literally SAID that the content for Post EW was going to be less content packed BECAUSE Dawntrail was going to be MORE content packed + all the additions to the system and graphics. If you guys can't stand the fact that EW is the end of a saga and it's expected to have little to nothing left to do until we go to new lands, PLUS the fact the developers are even saying themselves they'll be slacking on Post EW to ensure Dawntrail has all the time needed and effort put into it because it's going to be fucking huge, then yall don't deserve to play this game. All people want to do is whine, for once think logically, gather your information, and then speak.

P.S before you respond "well why didn't they make sure all of this was settled before so on and so forth" bro, covid happened and threw them way off schedule with Endwalker as is. So of course that fucked up the course of Dawntrail too.

14 never had a dog shit expansion that ruined the game, it had weaker ones of course and it had ones that started strong and ended poorly. HW had a great story but very little else about it was good but its still alot of peoples fav for the emotional punch it had as well as some fun content. Sb was weaker in story for me of them all but content wise it's where I had my most fun at the time. ARR has the most packed into it across the board since it's the foundation of the game but my opinion has changed over time and the scale tips either way for me. BUT.....14 never had an expansion that caused a majority of the community to up and leave the game in mass and flood another MMO in a literal revolt against SE so...

Ok I didn't want to have to address this point but if you are wiping at 0.1% it is just on you. There is a lot of ways to do more damage like as an example you could just crit harder, in case you didn't know if you spam your button faster your crit chance goes up significantly so yeah... Stop finding excuses for your short comings.

It's good to remember that when we say "critically acclaimed", the "critically" here pertains to critics, in other words, reviewers and game journalists. Those people are busy (and often underpaid) - they would absolutely, 100% judge the quality of the product mostly based on what the MSQ offered. That's not a worthless review but it's not very representative of the experience of someone who's going to play it like an MMO, for months or maybe years on end.
