Yeah I just bought a Barrett 416 M99 and cost me $5k but what really will surpass the price of my rifle will be the ammo. I have 190 rds of Barrett 416 and was roughly about $1900usd, lol. The ballistics of Barrett 416 is pretty amazing also.

Anyone own one in 300prc and tried the eldx loads?

After the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) announced their desire for a new precision sniper rifle in December 2009, Barrett created the MRAD in accordance with the specifications laid out by SOCOM.[4] Building off of the successful Barrett 98B, the MRAD features multiple improvements such as a folding stock which allows the rifle to be transported more easily. When folded, the stock latches around the bolt handle which increases the security of transporting the rifle without increasing the width when it is unfolded.[1] A major MRAD feature (and requirement of the military PSR solicitation) is a field-changeable barrel/caliber capability.

They're $15k? How about NO. Theres too many rifles that outperform this mk22 in every way for 1/3 less$. Military contracts are wasted on equipment thats been artificially inflated...

For a military long range precision rifke, $6000 is noy much. I would imagine by the time you sdd a 25x nighforce optic, suppressor, and clip on thermal, the whole system could easily cost $15,000

The .308 Winchester Magnum, 7.62x51mm M118LR is still a good round to use as a sniper, many a sniper whether active or retired will tell you that this cartridge is still great.

Couple of years in a manual labor job will sort out that "13 pounds is unfathomable" issue you have there. I work in a factory and got men and women much, much smaller, and older, than you slinging 25 + pound parts every thirty seconds all day, every day. Depending on the station they might actually be lifting the part twice. So grab a 25lb barbell, stand between two platforms you can set the barbell down on without bending your knees but have to have your arms almost fully extended, then every thirty seconds your going to face the barbell, pick it up and do a full bicep curl and hold it up, while you turn to the other platform, then put it down and count to 15. (You can let it go anytime you're counting.) Then pick it up again and do a bicep curl and hold it as you turn back to the first platform and put the barbell down, then count to 15.

That's one rep.

Our rotations are two hours long, so do that for two hours then take a ten minute break, then do it again for two hours, then have a half hour lunch, then do it again for two hours, ten minute break, and finally again for two hours.

Do that daily until you don't feel it's strenuous anymore, and bam, you're as upper body capable as an immigrant 60 year old woman who's 5'3".

The Army version of the MRAD has been around for maybe 5 years and with its great trigger group that is easy to service/replace, 1/2 MOA or better accuracy, monolithic upper & forearm, shielded bolt race.
IS the MRAD as good as the British ASW rifle? I would say AT LEAST as good, possibly better in some respects.

$6000 is kind of cheap considering. Knight's kit was over $12,000 for a less capable rifle(except semi-auto). I know extra barrels will cost more and all and then the scope but this is to be sold to the military and most folks mark things way up
A full blown custom rifle built by a top notch gun smith can easily cost $5,000
I saw another video with Kevin Owens and he was involved with SOCOM and the acquisition of this system. He was special forces in Ireland and the US for over 20 years. He ran the Special Forces Sniper Course, and was in charge of all Force Modernization for Army Special Forces.

I am just surprised the army still chooses to use bolt action rifles instead of semiautomatic. to civilians, the time it gets to shoot is not a priority, to the army it is.
i also would've thought that remote sniper system would've been bought..
