How do donations even help anymore? You need to have 10000 in deductions in order for it to make a difference..

We just keep stocked up on things we are low on. We try to get those on sale or at a good price.
We mostly buy the sale items on the front of ads and meat on sale. We eat lower priced cuts of meat. Also, using baskets in the freezer shows at a glance what we are low on. A basket for chicken, etc. Surprised upright freezers don't come setup with these.

Jennifer!! 😎 You always have such great tips and explanations and hard facts for those tips! I’m so glad your daughter is getting these first-hand lessons from you and we can all benefit also as I didn’t have these kinds of lessons as we didn’t talk about money management with our parents. It was verboten! Thank you!!

Thanks, Jennifer! Good content, as always. My weak spot is meal planning, I have to admit. I am older and live alone, and often don’t plan ahead more than a couple of days. I need to challenge myself to pare down the grocery bill. Meal planning makes sense; I don’t know why I seem to be resistant to the idea of doing it.

I have a capital one checking with several savings accounts below it. You see them all on one page, it's all one bank statement. I do have an account at another bank, where I pay my bills.

Debt grows like mold, love the analogy! I have all my paycheck direct deposited into savings, and then my set amount for bills automatically transferred into my checking at the beginning of the month. If the money isn't there, there is no temptation to spend!

I keep a folder separated by month. I put every receipt in another folder. At end of month we match receipts with my credit card and bank statement. We post totals to a spreadsheet to see monthly expenses. Keep back up until next year is done. Actually very easy. We know exactly what we spend.

Hey Jennifer. Thanks for another great video. For me, the most helpful comment is probably putting bug purchase events on a calendar and including them into the budget a couple of months before the date. This wil assist me to budget better but also, once something is includedvin the budget rather than being a last minute purchase on a credit card, I'll be more intentional about the purchase abd definitely spend less. Hello from Nottingham, UK.

Jennifer, I needed the quick reminder so thank you! I was gonna wait until vacation is over to pay my electric bill, but I was like.....nah, let's go ahead & get it done. So I did, went and processed the payment asap. See, I could've waited because it's not due until 2 weeks from now. But now i don't have to worry about it! Especially since I will be missing 2 days on my next check due to vacation. Which I'm also not worried about, because now I have back up money! I'm almost done w/ my emergency fund, too! What a difference it makes, knowing it's there. Love your advice!

I keep have a current (chequing) account and a savings account with one bank and my £1000 emergency fund elsewhere. I use a spreadsheet with different headings for the savings account; it's easy to see how much you have saved up for each category.

I’m 56 , automatic payments out of your check before you get it. Every raise you increase savings. Yes pay bills as they come in and I’ve always had a zero based budget

Great tips. Automation really helps to simplify your finances. I automate all my bills and I want to start automating my savings also. I keep money in 3 different banks: one for regular checking, one for emergency fund and one for my sinking funds. This works well for me.

Credit cards have a job in our house. 3 cards, #1 husband uses it for gas and pet food purchases. #2 attached to Amazon only. #3 big purchases. RULE: pay off any CC spending IN FULL ALWAYS. WE KNOW WHERE EVERY DIME IS SPENT. It works for us.👍

The one that got my attention is the several bank accounts. I am guilty of this and I will simplify and use an excel spreadsheet for the various things I’m saving for. Thanks fir the tip!
