I feel for Heather but speaking from experience, the way she speaks about the possible father that blew up a meth lab, I worry she will go right back to it. She defended him saying he didn't do it around her so that made it ok but having a dad that comes home tweaked out on meth is never ok. She's gotta put that baby first if she stands a chance.

Our "justice" system is a tragedy. A lot of these people shouldn't even be in jail in the first place

Ayeshas story really hurts me.The dedication to pump still was so touching, shes ensuring his health and he still has Mama doing for him while shes in there.I do feel it should have been self defense.

This program is a joke; I worked in a female work release facility that partnered with the IDOC specifically to house these moms. They don't teach them anything in prison in the wee ones program, and these "moms" do NOT care about their babies or even older kids. Every woman that came to our WR facility from IWP were sent back to prison because they wouldn't follow the rules. Many in this series have already reoffended several times since their original release dates.

For those who know nothing about birth…. whenever a woman has a c-section or vaginal birth, a birthing coach still can be used no matter how a woman chooses to give birth

Before people comment on something they do not know, pick up a book first before You appear to be clueless or ignorant

One of the women said that she already had a child at home, the later on she said that she'd be "less likely" to commit another crime because of it, yet she already committed a crime as a mother before she had this baby, so how was having another baby & giving her access to that child in prison going to solve anything? It's SO abundantly clear that the wrong people are in charge of this trainwreck

This is INSANITY, to allow babies to be in prison, jailed for being born to criminals. It is a privilege to raise a child & they gave up the rights to that privilege when they broke the law. They are laying the groundwork to set those babies up for attachment trauma, relationship failure, mental illness etc..allowing them to bond with women who are ENTIRELY unstable is irresponsible to say the least. The priority should be the well-being of the CHILD, not what would best ACCOMMODATE the criminal!! If those women actually LOVED their children & weren't just USING them to tend to their own emotional & mental needs, than they would happily give them up, in order to give them the best life possible! That's what a selfless & loving mother would do! Those women are in jail for a reason, That is PROOF that they are unfit mothers & should have NO access to children until they are fully recovered & out of jail, (if the child wants to be near them at that point) That is what is best for the child. Just because someone is a blood relative does not mean that they deserve access to a child. Awarding these criminals RIGHTS to their babies when they don't even have RIGHTS in their day to day lives is INSANITY.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️ These women shouldn't have even been ALLOWED to get pregnant in the first place! These prison guards are punishing the children for the crimes of their mothers. The babies are literally being treated as comfort OBJECTS & not tiny humans with tiny human rights! It infuriates me!

I personally don't mind it. I think that once the baby gets to a particular age then a family member has to take them, but during the early stages they should be with the mother.
I would have given the baby my last name until I knew who the father was.

I think it's much better for the babies to be with their moms... I worry that at some point, a baby will be severely hurt or killed by an inmate (not necessarily their mama) and then these programs will stop. I really hope I'm wrong. I'm a retired teacher and have taught many students whose parents were incarcerated and it's a very sad situation. Also, why do we send these women to prison for such long sentences?? Terrible.

Heather should be offered a tubal ligation (if she wants one). With kids and only 31 years old - she could go on to have many more kids. But it's not fair if the story about only having a juvenile battery charge is being used against her. Kids at 10 do not have the capacity to make decisions that will affect their entire lives.

Forcing a woman to give birth without an epidural bc the prenatal care was so poor they didn’t even know she had a blood disorder until she was in labour should be illegal. Criminal or not. She as a human being deserved better care and preparation from a medical team.

I honestly think and feel like as long as none of the pregnant women have any violent/dangerous crime that they're in jail/prison for then their should be ample rooms for all the mothers to be able to keep their babies, not just 10 of them, that just isn't fair to the other soon to be mothers to have to send their babies off with someone else while they're in prison, just my opinion, no judgements at all.
