I was working with a rear derailleur yesterday following the instructions in the Park Tool blue book of repairs. I hadn't thought about turning the barrel adjuster on the derailleur, as I was only turning the H & L limit screws to correct my problem.

Absolutely amazing teaching. I've watched other videos that do a good job of explaining the parts and how to adjust, but pro tips like "take the alignment out of the equation" to set the high limiter makes such a huge difference.

I bought a cheap-o throw away bike from Walmart for $150, just to have for summer vacation then give away to a local charity when I go home, but now the bike runs so great I'll probably keep it.

This is a great video, to be fair when you have done it a couple of times it becomes a lot easier, small increments are the key

I've consulted this PERFECT how to video so many times for many bikes. Was going nuts recently because I couldn't quite get the indexing perfect but then after some digging realized that my faulty SRAM eagle NX 12spd is the problem - not Calvin's thorough walk through... Thanks Calvin!

L-Limit screw affects even 2nd and 3nd gear. I bought a brand new derailleaur and it was hard to me to shift to the lowest gears. When i unscrewed L-limit, it worked perfectly.

After watching this video, i have finally successfully adjusted the H limit screw and indexed my rear derailleur. 🤣😛 I have attended maintainence courses and watched other videos but after watching your video especially with the visuals the penny suddenly dropped...i adjusted my rear derailuer after fitting a new hub without any ghost shifting whatsoever. Thank you so very much.

Both my adjustment screws cause motion. Neither are labelled. How do i determine which one is the h screw?

In adjusting to the smallest sprocket the "H" screw is out pretty far. The barrel adjuster on derailleur and the handlebar are maxed out as well to get to the smallest sprocket. What should I do to put it back in balance? Do I need to loosen the cable to give it more slack?

I cannot get my derailleur properly adjusted. It either doesn't shift up to the high gears, or it doesn't shift down to the lower gears, and solving one makes the other issue worse.

I have it adjusted to go from high gear to low nice and smooth, but it won't come back smoothly. If I adjust it to come back smoothly, then it won't go smoothly the other way again. Quite frustrating.

Do you generally need to adjust the detailer after replacing the chain? Or is that a sign that the new Chain might be too short/ long?
