Accel Bug in Time Trials - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

as someone who mains a combination with high speed (and thereby low acceleration) in this god forsaken game, this hurts to watch, but hopefully something is done about this in-game

The Mini-Turbo stat affects 4 unknown parameters. Could they be related to this bug?

Theres likely a way to get the attention of Nintendo as a lot of reporter people for stuff have connections with devs and other people within Nintendo. This is how Pretendo managed to assist Nintendo with fixing game security issues when MK8 and Splatoon servers were shut down due to an exploit that allowed other users to steal personal information from other consoles.

Thank you Pii for mentioning the visual drifting bug with the front tires. I've know this bug since wave 5 released. Two things I wanna add on is, if you get picked up by Lakitu the front tires go back to their glitched state, the same thing happens when you reverse. It makes the game look less polished visually than before, even the little details matter! In my opinion Wave 5 felt rushed, I mean look back at the announcement post and release trailer for wave 5 they not far off! This only has to do something with wave 5 since it introduced these bugs. They also haven't fixed the red shell warnings even when you not targeted by a red shell you'll still get warned.(aka fake red shell warning.) They said that this was fixed in the wave 5 patch notes but it wasn't, oh yeah and lag trail. Nintendo needs to fix these bugs especially acceleration bug because it's not fun to accelerate slower than intended because of a bug that effects the entire game especially time trials. I main GLA ever since I unlocked it back in 2018 it's my favorite kart with yoshi, and I have to deal with acceleration bug the most because it has the slowest acceleration it's just not fair!

This game could really benefit from a QOL update! like adding mini turbo and invincibility stats in to the game after you selected a character and pressing plus or minus. I hope this video gets around. Nintendo needs to see this or report it only Nintendo support!

Man this is so annoying and now that I know this I will never see it the same way again and why would into make a big where you go slower then you should when it is a racing game? (It is more then a racing game though)

I don't play Time Trials. I only did it for the unlockables. I didn't care about world records at all, so I don't think I'm affected by this bug at all.

At this point, I think they're focusing on the next Mario Kart, so this bug will probably be in the game for eternity.

Another problem is that the previous world record holders cannot try for the WR again, because their best time is now unattainable. Not only that, but even if Nintendo somehow managed to clear the leaderboards, the players would have to redo many time trials, even ones they may have fluked.

Guys, come on, this is silly. It only makes sense to focus on Wave 5 times exclusively, for the effects of competition. Wave 4 is done, it's gone, and Accel bug is most definitely here to stay, unless we were to get a Wave 6. The mere fact that some vehicle combos got buffs, should be enough grounds to stop comparing current times to past times.

Just shift your perspective, and learn to enjoy speedrunning once more.

There's also two problems with the Accel Bug:
1. CPU opponents are not affected, so now they cheat like in Mario Kart 64, but at a much smaller scale.
2. Some 200cc Staff Ghosts, minus the Wave 6 Ghosts, are much harder to beat.

MK8 is no longer in active development, so I doubt they'll ever fix it. The most I can see them doing is clearing the leaderboards, or more realistically just do nothing...

Reserve “unbeatable” and “physically impossible” for stuff that is more than just really hard. Unless even TAS cannot beat it, it’ll likely be beaten at some point

I really hope they do patch the bug. I don't even play Time Trials, and that bug seems unfair.
