How long should the window saying 'making sure you're ready to install' last before changing to ready to install win 11 pro? The iso version I downloaded was 23H2

Why did you use the command prompt to install Win 11

Mine gets to a point where it says to add external storage. When I plug in the storage, it doesn't get recognized.

Doesn’t work for me. Goes back to the command prompt after “Making sure you’re ready to install”. Doesn’t upgrade to win 11 unfortunately.

Whatever loophole MS had to install this thing as server may have been closed by now, telling me it cannot determine whether this system can get the installation. Good thing you warned us all very well that it may fail at any point. I did back up my whole partition but that was moot as MS did not embark on a partial installation.

You skipped the entire process of burning the downloaded Win 11 ISO fle to a re-writable blank DVD.

I Wonder.. Why do I want to install Windows 11 at all?? That is not one upgrade.. That is stupidity. But on the other hand.. If you like Microsoft to supervise all that you do.. Windows 11 is your friend in need.

This video did not mention a key aspect of installing Windows: the License Key. Then again, does the installation also activate Windows 11?

Why would I want to upgrade to Windows 11? It's just Windows 10 with menus that were scrambled for no reason whatsoever and a Mac desktop. I hate Macs, they're toys for children. Linux here I come.

Unfortunately, I have to say that the upgrade failed for me (as it has with all previous methods I have tried - maybe 6 of them). First of all, I opted not to download the updates as one of your subscribers suggested. Anyway, at the very beginning of the install, it sits there for a while saying "Checking your PC". Mine fails after about 5 minutes of that with the same error I always get: Windows Server Setup is the title, then "Sorry, we're having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows Server. Please close Setup and try again." This is a 2015 Dell XPS with an i7 processor and 8GB. BTW - I have been in IT for 35 years, so no newbie. Any ideas anybody?

Why bother it's crap,just ditch windows altogether and install Linux mint simples it's easy and free,!

Great video and walk through, although my setup gets stuck on 'getting things ready for install' screen and left it over night and still no luck.

It took three times before Windows 11 would install. First 2 times it said the version wasn't the right one for my pc. I deleted all the setups twice and went over your instructions again and again. Finally on the third time it worked. Thanks. I'll update on how it goes.

What if the update porocess asks for your MS account details when installing and getting your PC ready ?. If this is on a second older PC do I just input my existing MS account details ?. Thank you.

I've got it running on an a 6th Gen Intel in a recycled HP office computer. It must be a year or more now, and it's working just fine.

One item, setup initially kept getting hung on the Getting Updates portion and nothing would happen. On the Install Windows Server screen, click on “Change how Setup downloads updates.” Another screen will come up “Get updates, drivers and optional features” click on “Not right now” and click next. The setup will now continue all the way through without any hangups.

I can’t believe this worked! I had an old laptop with Windows 10 and it was slow as molasses, but I was able to update it and it seems to be just as fast as when I first purchased it. 😮 I’m amazed. It’s not my primary laptop, but it’s working so well that if anything ever happened to my primary laptop, I’d have a very reliable backup.

This worked like a charm, liked and subbed 👍 I also saved / mount it on a USB flash drive ( you need to format the USB to NTSF not exfat due to the files is over 1GB files). Name the usb win11. Then I can tried and install it on other PC the way I don’t have to keep downloading it on other/that specific PC I want to install to. Once you plugged the USB (see what drive it is in) for me it is in D: drive just follow same steps on CMD prompt.
D:\setup.exe /product server
Press enter.

sadly did not work to upgrade from Win11 22H2 to 23H2... second_boot pre_oobe error...
