You're made a small mistake, when you talk about "using less VRAM" you're actually refer to RAM, not VRAM, and the number is smaller because, well, you've set VRAM to higher value thus VRAM prolly jumped from 1GiB to around 3-4GiB :) next time use performance overlay at 3 or 4 setting, you can see the other VRAM value seperately, and it is not added to RAM when using performance overlay at level 2.

Literally made the thread change you suggested while playing Breath of the Wild and noticed immediate stabilization and so far a consistent 30 fps

So do you have to resync game data every time you install a new game? Or is it also a one time set it and forget it option?

How can I remove the information tab of the fps, the temp and those things that appear when you are in the game?

I was really hoping this would help with the entering new room lag on Metroid Prime Remastered...too bad. And yes, first thing I did was set yuzu to docked mode before ever playing it. It's really odd behavior overall, especially because when it gets really bad, pausing to map fixes it nearly instantly(small fps hiccup returning to game). Didn't try power tools yet, but also already finished the game....plus I'd honestly probably forget to swap smt all the time.

For me performance with SMT off on PS3 emulation was actully worse than before. But overall perfomance is more smooth with CryoUtilities so thx for the video

fyi you just didn't really understand the steamdeck or the setting you did with the vram thing. It used less ram becaus well.. it had less ram to use. That's just ram, not vram. The entire steamdeck only has 16gb of ram. There is ram being used by the system and then what's available. You stripped from what was available so it oculdn't use enough. Increasing vram is a good idea but you just don't understand systems at all. You weren't tracking ram usage overall, just system ram. This is fine if the bottleneck was vram.. in some games it is.. in others it's not and why you got WORSE top end performance until you hit vram limits.

Is Meta Deck broken for anyone else? Tried scraping game info metadata for 150 games and it just keeps loading forever - seems to freeze when encountering a game that it has no data on. I hope they fix this soon because I was hyped finding out about it. Really useful to outline per-game settings, blurbs, relevant mods etc. Plus it calms my OCD so that's always good.

this smells like placebo, but ima try it anyway. surely if the deck is now using/utilizing less ram then wouldn't that be because you have less ram onboard free as its allocated to vram. ill give it a go, nothing to lose, well, except available ram...

I don’t know what I was doing wrong but after I installed cryoutilities my fps on resident evil remasters went up from 30 low settings to 60 all max out and stable. Wow this thing really works

This guide really stabilized my emulation performance. Shadow The Hedgehog in particular had some bad dips by default but now it never drops below 45 fps. Thanks for the great informative content.

I cant get access to those 4 options for the vram. I shot down the SD, and when i press both buttons, i hear the sound, i let the buttons go, but no screen. I trief to hold it longer as well, but no luck. What do i do wrong?

FYI, RDR2 is one of the few games that runs better with a UMA size of 1GB! There’s frame drops near water if you put it on 4GB!

So cryoutilities is primarily to improve stability and performance but not focused on battery life?

I was able to install CryoUtilities thanks to your guide. However, I still have the same issue with Metroid Prime Remaster. The framerate drops to 30 during gameplay DOCKED and Handheld which makes everything move very slow and unplayable. Texture pixels shows up frequently all over the game. Is there is a specific setting that I need to adjust for this game in the Yuzu Emulator?

I applied the recommended settings, but swap size is still 4GB, the settings are applied successfully, also during setup the windows says swap:4GB, but after the process is finished, the swap size appears red, everything else is green, I don't know why my recommended swap size is 4GB instead of 16 GB.
