The biggest issue here of course is optimization. You have 2 times the cores, 2 times the memmory bandwidth...that isn't being used at all. You will have to look for games/apps that would actually use it. This is not at all mainstream gaming so of course you would have to look for niche scenarios. Encoding, massively multi tasking...I would be putting multiple gpus on that and 10 monitors this sort of thing. You took a hellcat to an agility course and said hmm this sucks.
An example for real world use would be many instances of a game, for example I play EQEMU and run up to 100 instances at once. This would be a system for such a task.
This would also make a killer media server system for an apartment complex where everyone could hook into it and share files etc. Sure someone could put a virus on it but there are actually communities that trust each other and this is not an issue believe it or not!

There's likely an option to lock the all core frequency to the single core boost frequency on these cheapo Chinese boards, going from 3.3 to 4 ghz should make this cpu a LOT faster.

That's ok in the Us and Canada, but in Latam a ryzen 7s price is much higher than msrp, and our income is lower, so Huananzhi motherboards are a great alternative!

In retrospect, Linus was probably sick with COVID before it became a pandemic. Maybe it came in the box with the motherboard from China.

What about if I get a single socket X79 pr X99? Should I be able to use Extreme or i7?

Me and my wife both got Ryzen 5600s last year. I wonder if, a few years down the road, it would be useful to get a compatible dual-CPU motherboard and use both of them for one of us, while the other gets a newer CPU.

Same goes for our RAM - each of us has a pair of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3600MHz 2x16GB.

That said, given how it seems like you'd need twice the RAM for a dual-CPU rig, it might not be worth it in our case, even with 2x Ryzen 5600s... then again, this is something to ponder in a few years; maybe by then some motherboards will be able to use a single set of RAM DIMMs for two CPUs and thus make such a setup potentially viable.

Can get those CPUs for under $25 now.
