Great review Andy! It looks very similar to the OEX Phoxx II one man tent that I use, only slightly wider. I have the same issue of getting a cold shower when unzipping the fly 1st thing. Can't say I'd noticed the sagging or condensation though.
ОтветитьGood review Andrew. Like Dave I have bought the OEX Phoxx 1v2. I think most side opening tents of this design will have problems with water coming in from the open door. I have yet to try my tent out.
I noticed there were a couple of clips on the inner at the head end which hadn’t been attached to the pole. Not sure they would have made a big difference to the sagging interior though. Maybe as you pegged the outer under tension it may have squashed the longer pole down and backward towards the foot end to create the sag?
Keep up the good work.

Me and a mate both bought ourselves Mountain Warehouse's single skin one man tent this summer. Not sure the model name but it's often advertised for around 60 pounds. Pretty much a coffin tent and single skin but a big side door so at 6 3" it makes life easier to get in. Can't sit up in it at all or cook but there's a little bit of room for a few bits. Feel well made, good zips and a good bath tub. So bad points is size and condensation but that's no surprise for what it is and zero chance of cooking in the rain. But it's well made, packs small, it's light and cheap to buy. My mate used his in heavy rain and wind for three days and it handled it well. But getting in with door design means you'll get wet and condensation is a concern. I shall use mine in the summer with flysheet zipped and the door rolled up. The soft part of the tent folded up into 5lt fork bag with a foot print and I fitted the poles to my top tube. A good robust Plan B tent I reckon.
ОтветитьGreat value tent after all the discounts. Certainly looks cramped for 2 people, ok with you other half but not with a sweaty mate😬 Do you think they’ll be less condensation in the warmer months?
ОтветитьIt's designed for the hills mate. That's why its so low and squat. The groundsheet is a great idea, lots of us take dogs with us. They have claws.
ОтветитьThanks! I resigned of buying this.
ОтветитьRemember to use the orange clips on the sides of your inner to attach to the poles.
ОтветитьI would agree with all comments and video review. My son and I slept in the 3 man version. The biggest drawback is condensation and the heavy waterproof fly lacks adequate ventilation...best keep a side up or possibly cut some curves in the bottom or find some way to prop the two vents in top. Will keep but look for other options for regular backpacking.
ОтветитьYou've missed tying the fly onto the poles, the (grey) ties are there. That will allow you to to tension the inner with the guy lines.
ОтветитьGreat review and your thoughts on this tent as I own this tent myself! One thing it's great in gale forced winds as April 2018 in the Cairngorms national park it survived with flying colours. This tent has plenty room for me and backpack etc.
I do find the poles could break any time but it's not happened yet. For me it's one tent I do really like after getting used to it. I'm using better pegs and going to get better guy ropes soon.
It's honest what you say and it's not expensive either. Soon I'm going to use fabsil to make it even more waterproof.
Good quality tent and I hope you get years with this tent and have many camping trips in it.
Enjoyable video from you!!!
If you want to use a stove in the vestibule and need more space then unzip the door partially or completely depending on weather conditions..BUT...keep the 2 corners of the doors pegged out.
If you use trekking poles you can prop these (set at their shortest lengths), against one or both doors at an angle. This will push both door flaps away from the stove and provide twice as much room where you can use the stove safely!!.😉😉😁...llama_ladee_anny🙋♀
Its a good and cheap affordable Bivi tent
ОтветитьIf the tent is wet prop the door open placing the tip of an inverted pole in the pegging loop and the tent door can act as a raised roof area. You can sit under it and the moisture will drain off away from the inner and directly onto the ground!!....
ОтветитьWow your review is the most professional and informative one that I’ve ever watched. Me and my partner are planning to go backpacking with this tent, and learned a lot from you about what to keep in mind with this tent. I couldn’t help pressing subscribe button. Thank you and keep doing this amazing work!
ОтветитьA 2 man tent is ok for 1, a 4 man tent is ok for 2, and so on.
ОтветитьGreat review Andrew thanks. I work for MWH so bought it cheaply for a biking holiday in summer. I tried it out last week in -5* but no rain. I propped open the vents, but still got condensation at the foot end. As you mentioned, probs best for 3 season camping. Great review👏 and look forward to your next vlog👌😎
ОтветитьI also noted you hadn't secured the black clips onto the front pole of the inner tent. That may account for the sagging. The 3man version is good for 2 people. Just!
ОтветитьGreat tent for price, and great stealth . Had mine set up for weeks worked great but because I left my tent in middle of bush , eventually had some critter eat through the net and stole some of my granola bar😂
ОтветитьHow tall are you
ОтветитьDIVUM, you should not tie the inner tent to the outer fly. This is guarantee water will find a passage to the inside of the tent. While the sagging isn't great, tying the two together will compromise the water resistance.
ОтветитьI picked one of these up for £19 not long ago from MWH, trying it out for a two day camp in Somerset, going solo. Hopefully, it stays dry overnight, I'll be out most of the day anyway. Fingers crossed it's good.
ОтветитьGood review, given me enough information to know this is not the tent for me.
ОтветитьYou are too tall for that tent
