Upgrading to the 49" Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED | BEAST!

Hey, dont forget to mention all the crapy firmware samsung ships their top of the line monitors with ever since first G9. Just look it up, G9, G9neo, G7, G8, G8 OLED, and now even G9 oled are all plagued by masive firmware issues that limit the intended and marketed use of these monitors for some people by a lot. And while Samsung does update their firmware often enough, they never fix all of the problems, while they also only hide others and some problems are not fix till this day even on the oldest ones. So anyone who cash out crazy amount on these bad boys should expect to have massive firmware issues for a long time. Strangely all you ever hear from creators is wow newest samsung monitor is pogers and looks amazing, people buy and get disapointed.

Hello Pete! Thank you for your review videos, I watched the ones on the other odyssey G9's and the one on the 45" LG OLED monitor. I'm on the search of a monitor and after watching your videos I'm confused now because I don't know which one to choose! Would you recommend the 45" OLED over de G9 OLED because of the better compatibility with Mac?

What is the structure of the color pixels? For text it is not typical to get great sharpness for text on OLED.

How do you think this compares to LG ultrawide monitors. I mostly do design work so colors are necessary for me but I also game... sometimes. But I debating which is better.

Honestly just don’t like the 1440p resolution, I want a 4K G9 Oled hopefully it’s comes out at the same time as the RTX Titan or rtx 5090. I think Samsung should consider making the G9 Oled a bendable monitor like the LG OLED Flex or Xeneon Flex to fix the curvature preference. Bendables are great because you can adjust the curve to your liking

I think the perfect size for UltraWide monitor is 34 or 38", 21:9 for pc desk use. If is biger (like this 49,32:9) from that I need turn my head to see the left and right site of the monitor and this is not practical for FPS shooter games.

Its actually apple that causes the issues using samsung devices , its well known that apple downgrades any images that are from a Samsung devices.

Question : does the monitor stretch the image on a ps5 ?

Given Samsung are billing this as a gaming monitor the lack of Mac support shouldn't be a shocker - the vast majority of the non console gaming market is Windows PC

They should have made 2 variants- a 1000R curve and a 18000R. If it's not broken don't fix it

Can we please stop using mac desktops. mac PC and laptops stopped progressing in 2014. using a 2008 Gateway would get you better test results. Time to build a PC my friend.

We just got ours today, and it arrived completely bricked. Had power but it was not show any display. Wouldn’t even open the menu. We called Samsung support and before they even tried to trouble shoot, they just told us to see send it back. Beyond disappointed that a $1,600 monitor would arrive useless.

It’s not tall enough though.

They marketed as a gaming monitor so why would they do anything for mac users? Mac users don't game on Macs lol. Plus Macs just aren't consumer friendly.

Can you please confirm whether you can use 2 output from the caldigit ts3+ into the monitor and then have the monitor run both signals PBP to simulate 2x27" 1440p screens? I have the monitor still unopened btw :D

Very disappointed when I seen that the spec were 1800R curvature. Having had both the CRG and G9, the curvature makes a big difference in quality of view for gameplay and everyday usage.

Got the same issue with the mac. Using an M1 and it runs only with display port (HDMI only runs 16:9), and only on 3840 x 1080, what do I need to be looking for in a dock to get the full resolution? Don't want to spend a fortune ontop of the small fortune I've already splashed

Really dumb how they couldn't curve it to 1000R. Aren't OLED usually more flexible than VA panels?

What brand is your webcam on the monitor?

Is there a joystick under the bottom edge of the screen like the Neo G9 or are you obligated so use the remote to do anything simple (like switching inputs), etc.

The screen is indeed much sharper, because it has a glossy finish, instead of a matte finish, which takes away some of the clarity

Thanks for the info. You confirmed my suspicions about the less aggressive 1800R curve. I would have upgraded my Neo g9 to the OLED version if it had a 1000R curve.
