I've found that an up to date prescription lenses has helped me tons. Just a little bit of fuzziness can make moguls much harder to navigate.
ОтветитьOne minute of intro bs for a 3 minute video is not a good ratio.
ОтветитьWhat Whistler can offer is insane traffic on a terrible road, fake hotels pretending to be European for 400% more than in Europe, lift tickets that when compared to Europe not only are are insanely more expensive but would allow any guests skiing a week, to PURCHASE THEIR AIRFARE, and still be cheaper than skiing Whistler…
But the real bonus IS the opportunity to be rained upon at anytime of the year… rain not snow… so Helly Hanson or KWAY rain gear first, ski clothes second…
Don’t get me started on the abysmal, overpriced food both on the slopes and off…
So, yes compared to all the other resorts in North America, Whistler can deliver the same corporation bullshit as all the others, but you would be a fool to miss European Skiing…
Does anyone know what skis he’s using?
ОтветитьAre you balancing mostly on the uphill ski as well?
ОтветитьGreat vid! Now, how do you avoid acceleration? How do you keep a constant speed or an under control speed?
ОтветитьIf you want to ski bumps well, learn to carve well first because you need the same attitude, body position and weight change.
ОтветитьI’m new first vid watching
ОтветитьVery good description and demonstration. The thing I would add to that is you have to think Go, Go, Go Not Wow, Wow, Wow! You have to be aggressive and confident to survive in the bumps. Train on the flattest slope with the smallest bumps until you understand the body position and weight change. If you think about slowing down or stopping, your tips will dig into the downhill side, the steepest part of the bump of the bump and throw you off balance. You think about going straight down the fall line with your upper body between the bumps as your skis travel from side to side like he showed. That will put your upper body where it will allow you to balance for either turn. The body position and weight change is very much like mild carving. Think about the Dollar sign.
ОтветитьLove it. I used to ski bumps a lot, but stopped skiing for 10 years in favour of sea resorts. I’ll go skiing again after your video. It’s incredibly helpful.
ОтветитьYes. gotta read your line !! it's so nice to be able to read & pick your line on the chair lift
ОтветитьYou ski like a ski instructor stiff and flat and slow.
ОтветитьThis is dumb. Everyone knows you just straight-line bumps.
ОтветитьHey new skiers, this guy will help you ski better. Must Watch!!!
ОтветитьOne of my keys to skiing bumps is the pole plant. Notice where he is planting his poles in the video. I just focus on planting my poles near the tops of the bumps and the turns happen automatically. All I think about is that next pole plant.
ОтветитьWas in Whistler for 10 days last week taking some CSIA courses heard such good things about Guy. Heading there for 15 days next month to do my Level 2 and Advanced teaching. I intend to take the level 3 program jan 2021 through Guys school !

ОтветитьIt's not that you can't ski bumps. It's that you can't ski. . .
ОтветитьWould have been better at 1 minute long.
ОтветитьLesson starts at 1 minute in
ОтветитьCoach Johnny K for Bristol Freestyle team has six alumni in World Cup and Olympic (Morgan Schild😉😁) under his belt..! It depends a lot on type of bumpline as well.. a naturally formed line or a comp zippline..😁 tips for any seems to be the same.. look two-three bumps ahead, this keeps your head up and upper body straight(you did great but the looking forward tip part..) hands forward also keeps weight on center of ski, flick the wrist makes less movement(your hands and arms looked good) in a zippline or fall line run you are turning before you complete this turn.. you didn't mention another big point, keeping shoulders facing down fall line (you did this well) less upper body jarring/movement keeps a clearer more focused head.. I LOVE BUMPS!! I hang with our Freestyle team regularly and started doing bumps in the day when we were allowed no more than 4"of air under skis😂lol yeah that's real... now that snowboards and jumps are allowed at my place of employment (Bristol Mountain NY) I have a hard time at 52yrs old) getting air...🙄.. lol the youngsters Johnny trains finally got me over the fear of hitting the jumps in competition mogul lines at our hill(yeah 1200ft vertical) I live for moguls!!! Can't post a vid here tho... absorbing with legs is very important in smooth upper body and driving the skis rather than letting them drive you (OOC) as coach says,"drive with the hips" pretend it is a lady.. uhhh oops PG on you sight!!!😂 like the vid just some tips we teach the a class kids.. simple words! Thanks
ОтветитьI wish he would remove the music so one can clearly understand.
ОтветитьAre moguls bad for your knees?
ОтветитьTIP: apply pressure to the front of your ski boots l, your shin area. so you are out over the front of your skis. Your upper body’s angle should match the slope angle. It should remain still and your legs do the work. Biggest problem is leaning back on your skis. Allow your skis to do the work for you. Oh and listen to good music while you ski and have fun. Also gradually increase the level of steepness. I’d rather see a bunch of good runs on say a blue run where you can hone the techniques rather than black runs with shitty techniques.
ОтветитьI find it too much work to ski moguls. Im bloody exhausted by the time i get thru them. Just not that fun to me i guess.
ОтветитьAmazingly intelligent instruction. Completely catapulted my knowledge of what to look for.
ОтветитьThe garbage music does not enhance our learning to ski bumps. More of Guy and less of so-called artist.
Ответитьvery nice flow in the bumps man....so smooth it is a pleasure to watch you ski......being a Brit and all .........lol....I kid but not many brits ski as well as you do.....
ОтветитьAre these bumps machined? Where I ski, we don't have anything with a nice rythym like these.
ОтветитьGreat video! I'm getting a bit old for the big bumps but like doing the smaller soft ones. Looking to be back up at Whistler in 3 weeks to enjoy using my Super Senior Pass.
ОтветитьThanks, Guy. Very helpful.
ОтветитьWhat about ski selection? For example I'm 6'2" and use a 177 All Mountain ski. I like speed on groomers and am a little intimidated by moguls. lol
ОтветитьThis is great. Some other mogul tutorials just show you a slope and tell you to turn at the back of the bump, expecting us newbs to understand what that means, but you actually showed us what to look for.
Ответитьman life easier on your self, turn on top of the bumps, stay off the ruts....and when in doubt just go straight....
ОтветитьIf you have that much snow all the time how is difficult lol.... Try doing that here in vermont
ОтветитьAwesome tutorial that uses modern technology to the extrem
Ответитьwas in whistler in march, he's right, loads of good bump runs.
ОтветитьGlad it was useful Gregor. Happy Skiing.
ОтветитьBest thing about the post, Mr Guy shows how to ski at a controlled speed. I've been skiing 40+ years, and the firstthing I thought (after watching bump skiers) is ya had to 'go fast' to get thru them. This is a perfect example ofnot just pump skiing, but controlled skiing.
ОтветитьGuy, great job on the video. Using the stills, and highlighting the the areas of the mogul that you're talking about adds tremendous clarity. Nice!
ОтветитьThanks for this Guy, coming back to skiing after a long break. Have some S7's but looking for some bump skis. Any advice?
ОтветитьWonderful video. Skiing moguls is perhaps akin to playing music from a sheet, in the sense that when you're doing one thing, you already have to be looking at the next thing, or you won't be able to keep tempo. The only difference is that in music not keeping tempo is just an embarrassment. On moguls it can mean hospital ...
ОтветитьGuy, you've done such a good job of showing skiers where you're looking in the bumps. Really good use of technology to teach.
ОтветитьGreat verbal skills and ability to communicate knowledge!
Awesome!
Brilliant, Guy - great stuff!
