I actually had a situation like this where I got stranded on Discovery Ridge. Basically, I had a bad crewmate with me who kept cooking fruit and he blew up my ship saying the treasure made him do it, before promptly abandoning me by leaving the game. Managed to save all of my loot and buried it just to be safe, but didn't get my ship back until I got a new crewmate who got my ship for me. Spent many days on that island, too many.

Every day I play SoT I learn that you cant trust anyone and even if they talk and tell you they wont kill you they're lying and you should kill them first. It happens 99% of the time I trust anyone in the game so it's really not surprising they assume you're hostile
