On May 15, 2025, Libra Group’s Vice Chairman Nicholas Logothetis participated in a fireside chat at The Economist Impact’s Sixth Eastern Mediterranean Business Summit at the University Club of New York entitled “Cyprus–Greece–Israel: Spurring Resilient and Multilateral Collaboration with the Region.” In a conversation facilitated by The Economist’s Joan Hoey, Nicholas expressed strong optimism about the continued positive trajectory of Greece’s economy.

Nicholas described Greece as a country with a “rich heritage and that is intellectually rich in diversity, thought, and hardworking people.” He also stated that “the brand of Greece is one of the best in the world,” and advised the audience to “invest in people first and then the opportunities will come.”

Voicing confidence in Greece’s economy, Nicholas noted that Libra Group will remain committed to the country and that its roots are in Greece, which began in the 1970s with its original maritime subsidiary, Lomar Shipping. Today, Libra Group and its subsidiaries have a presence in nearly 60 countries across 6 sectors, including a continued strong presence in Greece, spanning real estate, hospitality, renewable energy, and more.

Nicholas commented that beyond traditional investment opportunities, there are exciting ways to support Greece’s younger generations who are dedicated to the future of tech and AI. For example, Libra Philanthropies, Libra Group’s sister organization and an independently-run 501(c)(3) foundation, has two Greek-based non-profits, WE LEAD and Envolve Entrepreneurship, that level the playing field and open doors for young entrepreneurs, diverse founders, and innovators to realize their potential and ideas.

Lastly, Nick shared his personal views on today’s wider geopolitical environment, stating, “globalization is here to stay,” encouraging business leaders to expect and embrace change, along with rapidly changing politics as the new norm.
