Please don't bring liberal mentality & voting here. People keep fleeing horrendous blue states, running to red states and voting the same way and destroying it for everyone else.

It's an economic reason. Trade is going to start flowing from Canada to America to Mexico, to South America because of the turmoil overseas. Oklahoma city and Tulsa are going to be the next two major cities next to port cities going north and south that unite I35 and I40. What this means is that by nature, Oklahoma has to grow. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, OKC and Tulsa will be the new Baltimore, Boston, New york etc etc... there is a legitimate reason why OKC is building that monster of a building. Between the tech companies and the new trade directions occurring. OKC will legitimately be able to compete with almost any other city other than Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. 29 years from now, OKC will be absolutely unrecognizable

I moved to the OKC area in 2018 from Denver
6 years later- I like the area & State more than I thought I would.
I left the Front range due to many reasons-
My kids apartment rents in Denver metro are $600 more a month than I pay in a mortgage for a modest 3 bedroom house.
Cost of living here is much more reasonable
Wages in Oklahoma are decent as compared to the cost of living.
I miss the mountains of the Front Range, but lakes in OK like TenKiller, and the others in the south & eastern parts of OK are awesome.
The people here are very friendly & the BBQ is to die for
Drawbacks are the wind- it’s like Cheyenne Wyoming or Pueblo Colorado when it comes to winds
Tornados yes are a concern, but it is something you learn to live with. Denver also has much better Mexican Food.
Colorado politics did have a hand in moving- the state for years was always ‘purple’ & as a conservative I could live with that. After 2008- the Front Range turned Blue to Deep blue & that was honestly too far left for me
Oklahoma is very red- which suits me
Overall- the move has worked for myself, my wife, & my son who followed us from Denver a year after we got here.
But the state is not for everyone-

This was very well done and very fair overall.
It's true people gripe about crime statistics and partly because much of the internet believes all crimes set off a GPS signal that records on an internet 'Facts' statistics they google. they call them 'facts' not statistics. So they don't understand that most human behavior is not recorded and let me give an example:
Lets say I lived in a city very much like one seen here in the video.
For a good 5 years the population growth was way outpacing the city police and justice system budgets.
It would be normal a brawl of oil workers broke out and the two police cars available might, at best, try and scatter them and if your BBQ was stolen from your backyard there's not 'investigation'.
Statistically a very low crime rate.
One glorious year the police got a massive new budget to match the city population and prepare for more growth. Overnight there were new cop cars all over the place. new 'SWAT' truck, K9s, a big hiring spree for new cops, a new judge and..
.. holy heck the 'crime rate' doubled and nearly tripled.
You see?
do people get that the actual 'criminal behavior' stayed the same but the criminal statistics went way up with the new superforce of cops and gear and cars etc?
People need to start getting this and also learning that statistics are not "facts".

Hubby and I were in Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Sand Springs, and other smaller cities in 2022. We were surprised to see how beautiful and green around Tulsa and the were so amazed with the Fill Brook Museum. I also like that there are dozens of Asian markets in the area, plenty of good restaurants to choose though they're seems to be always full and busy. Many houses are made of bricks and they're designed beautifully and very artistic. The only drawback that's a bit disappointing is that many roads are cracked and bumpy, they could damage tires quickly. We also have noticed the presence of homeless people living under bridges and some beg for money at gas stations.😢

Is the internet good there? How bad are the tornadoes, is there a spot that's safe from them? And how would people react to seeing a furry? Thank you. ^w^

It's a good state to retire if you want some snow but not so much you have to deal with a snowstorm. You get 4 seasons. I live in Florida, and I actually get depressed when it hot during the winter. I find I like 4 seasons. I lived in Oklahoma when my dad was in the military. Thinking about possibly moving back when i retire. Just got to see what it's like when it's time for me to retire.

I live in Tulsa and it’s ok. Legal Med Weed, lots of restaurants, 14th in the nation for murder. Lots of rednecks, Barbie Jeeps, shitty drivers, music scene is toast. It’s cheaper to live here. Really hot in the summer. It could be worse. There’s about 1M in the metro area. I’d love to move to Colorado or Cali but can’t afford to. Tulsa does have a great musical history. Too bad it’s history….

I lived in Tulsa for two years fifty years ago. It was pleasant, with mostly extremely conventional people leavened by a number of oddballs. One thing I noticed right away was the boosterism. I constantly heard all the reasons why Tulsa, and Oklahoma in general, was going to explode with economic growth. The evidence offered was about as thin as the reasons you've listed. OU and OSU are fine schools, but just about every competing state has two good state schools. The weather isn't anything special, unless you're moving from someplace that has blizzards. Believe me, winter in Oklahoma is bleak. And summer is torrid. Not terrible weather, but not that big a draw for most. The central location isn't great for air travel since you'll probably have to change planes at DFW, Atlanta or O'Hare. Isn't the low cost of housing a sign that the state is not deluged with newcomers? Oh, and the Census numbers don't suggest any huge surge of population.

We moved from a suburb of St. Paul, MN, this past year to Bartlesville without knowing anyone here and we absolutely love it.
Main factors were housing, cost of living, and politics.
We now have a very small mortgage for a nice hoe that would have been twice as expensive back there. We now also have local political representation and more family time together.
Don't believe MN nice nonsense, the average person is nicer down here without the chip on their shoulder either.

Oklahoma doesn't get as many tornado's as it used too. The center of tornado alley has moved from Texas, Okla., Kanas in the direction of the central eastern states. So yes Oklahoma doesn't get as many tornado's as it used to but it can still get storms with lead damaging winds. Which is still pretty scary.

If you're moving to Oklahoma it's most likely for cheap land and because you don't really care about the lackluster state of public education. You're probably also highly focused on college sports since the level of other forms of entertainment is largely not something you can't find in any decent city but college sports is ample. By and large the most often quoted reason is "cost of living" though due to cheap land/housing. That reason ignores low pay though that dominates the state by and large. I'm not sure where the "tax" info is coming from in the video but just my sales tax in Oklahoma is 9.0%. That doesn't include property and income taxes.

Oklahoma City is far more comfortable place to hang out vs Big D, mostly because it is much easier to get around making everything it has to offer ( and that is plenty) easily accessible Thank God the explosive growth seen in Dallas and other Texas metros has not struck here.
The growth rate is right in the sweet spot around 1% a year, just enough to keep the city from becoming stagnate, and allowing constant evolutionary improvement
without the need for unending road expansions or overwhelming the infrastructure in general. The quality and quantity of public parks and museums , private recreational facilities, the newfound vibrancy near downtown is striking to anyone familiar with the OKC of 20 years ago. May we never become a chaotic DFW North.

I am an Okie, born and raised. Everything is somewhat accurate. The only thing that really bothered me is the cost of living. While, yes it is low, the minimum wage is only $7.25 and has been since the turn of the century. Oklahoma like to stick to federal minimum wages even though we have all this oil. And we are one of the poorest states. Our education system, I am a teacher, is crap. None of it make sense. So, yeah, welcome.

I feel like Oklahoma is going to start increasing even more. Due to the new modern buildings being built, such as OAK, the new OKC arena, and the Brick-town skyscraper. I really feel like the brick town skyscraper will draw in a lot of people (if it’s actually built to 134 stories) reason being is because it will be the second tallest building in the nation. And this would be a big tourist attraction
