Appreciate Mr Hayek's honest passion for watchmaking. Do not appreciate his love for the expression that watchmaking or anything related "is in our/close to our DNA" or how "our DNA transfers into our watchmaking". Yes, this saying is not uncommon and supposed to sound more modern and scientific as "in our blood", but it's even more silly. Who wants human DNA (found in bodily fluids and skin cells) in their watches?
ОтветитьIMO The most beautiful watch blancpain has made is the FiftyFathoms Mokarran. I had been searching for it for ages only to learn they only made 50 of them! Only available in the states too which was disappointing.
Why oh why Blancpain!?…. Seriously, that sort of watch should NOT be limited….. The same colour chronograph version is not as good either…
Anyway, I ended up purchasing a Grand Seiko 9SA5 which is equally beautiful : )
his head is so blanc and i feal his pain
ОтветитьBlancpain is so special , so beautiful and elegant .
ОтветитьVery well done! I have a 35-year-old Vitteret in daily use.
ОтветитьGREAT VIDEO !!
ОтветитьThis might be the best video in this series Teddy.
ОтветитьI. Wish Blancpain would stop making Limited watches.😊
ОтветитьMarc seems like a really nice guy that is passionate about what he's doing...... But still deserves to be sacked for the decisions he's made? Continuing to product watches too big for the main market. Not offering the products his potential customers want.... And then diluting a marque watch brand with the Swatch Collab..... A horrific decision
ОтветитьRespect to Blancpain which made an amazing update to their dive watch models. This is compared to Breguet, which is also a Swatch Group brand, that completely ruined their chronographs.
ОтветитьBoring
ОтветитьGreat stuff. Well done Teddy for being well-dressed!
ОтветитьThese visits are the best content of your channel. Thanks and try to do as much as you can!
ОтветитьLove this, Teddy! Now I'm wondering if you could one day visit Oris in Hölstein! that would simple be awesome!
ОтветитьI really can't get past the Blancpain x Swatch using a non-serviceable movement, doubly so because of the "eco-friendly" theme.
ОтветитьGreat job Teddy spot lighting this iconic brand. Beautifully shot as well.
ОтветитьYou have to be Bald and have a white beard to be a pro watch maker xd
ОтветитьCongratulations on this video which I enjoyed with a Bathyscaphe titanium on my wrist. I especially liked the part about movement finishing. I would have also been interested to hear their reaction to the Perezcope article “Debunking the Fictitious History of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms - Perezcope” which claims the Fifty Fathoms was not launched in 1953 but later. I am also not entirely sure how a disposable plastic watch with a non-serviceable movement fits with Blancpain’s ocean preservation efforts.
ОтветитьThe Swatch X BP collaboration is a marketing operation because Swatch hasn't been able to sell its own watches in years. Until the Moonswatch their shops were empty and their sales were disappointing. They needed to jump on the back of the brands they own. Great idea but let's not BS ourselves. The Swatch X BP 50 looks like a BP and that's about it. The movement is Swatch and cannot be serviced. It's disposable. You're welcome to pay $400 for the "image" of a BP 50. The recycled fishing nets story might "feel good" however, the watch will simply be turned back into trash if/when it stops working.
ОтветитьI think Marc Hayek is my favorite watch CEO after watching this. What a humble, well spoken, respectful individual. Love you of course also Teddy, your content is my favorite!!
ОтветитьThis is not the original blancpain we all know it, just a marketing trick for this swatch group brand, they ask for ridiculous prices for average watches, it's a fucking scam if you ask me.
ОтветитьI had the opportunity to visit the manufacture with my business partner a few months ago. It was one of the most tremendous experiences... It is just great to see all the watchmakers and artists again who talked to us and showed us their craft. Thank you, Teddy, for letting me relive that moment through this video.
ОтветитьWow it sounds like teddy is hinting that we are going to get the fifty fathoms we’ve all been waiting for
ОтветитьHopefully they bring us an ff in a practical size in the near future
ОтветитьWow that was well weird lol...As an impoverished lol run of the mill watch collector. There I was thoroughly engrossed in the pure artistry of the exceptionally high skilled watchmakers of Blancpain enjoying every second engrossed in the video. The anticipation of the reveal of what hid under the lid of the watch box straining every sinue every fibre of my being. Then BANG! As the lid was opened and I saw what had hitherto been hidden from view. No word of a lie it felt like I'd had a full bucket of freezing cold ice water hurled directly into my face! The juxtaposition between the absolute beauty of what I'd seen previously. Confronted with this ugly lump of hideously coloured plastic. I was immediately awake dragged from my somnolence back into a world where marketing and the ability to con your fellow man out of his last penny are the most revered attributes.
At that exact moment what had previously been an enjoyable little escape from the concerns of the day had been transformed into just another marketing ploy to add to the myriad of others. Sad but unfortunately true.
teDDY, which was u were wearing during the detailed interview ? Thank you in advance.
ОтветитьOur guy Teddy is incredibly respectful and that’s a big reason why he makes and keeps these valuable connections .
ОтветитьTeddy is so well educated in this industry. He isn’t boastful and continues to impress me every video.
ОтветитьI don't know about this vid. He spent the first part of the interview talking about the artisnal uniqueness of BP....then supporting a mass produced by robots plastic watch. I dunno know. A bit sketchy...
ОтветитьOooh you lucky bugger :) That's impressive.
ОтветитьWhat watch is Teddy wearing here?
ОтветитьThese old master watchmakers will soon retire - are there enough youngsters following?
ОтветитьI've always really liked Blancpain. Now I love them. I have gone back and forth for years on which watch I should aspire to have as my grail. I think this video has cemented the Fifty Fathoms as that watch. I'm so impressed with the CEO. He isn't trying to wow us with market strategy and corporate jargon like so many of them do. He's a down to earth guy who loves watches just like the customers. When he said that he judges success by the "Sparkle in the eye" and the rest follows. That hit me. Thoroughly impressed. I want a Blancpain!
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьTeddy, hate to bring this up but Tim mosso just discussed the sub vs 50 fathoms and the history. And he cited a reference (forgive me not remembering) but it states that the sub actually pre dated the 50 Fathoms by 2 years. So to keep crediting them with creating the category is sort of stolen valor. Please investigate and let us know what you find.
ОтветитьLovely lovely video. Their artisans and watchmakers are shockingly good. Their ‘one watchmaker per watch’ ethos is a wonderful touch.
Well done Teddy and team, excellent work.
I wish you’d mentioned a bit more on that jumping hour tourbillon that watch looked epic!
What a great video! So interesting.
ОтветитьRecycled fishing nets and this watch will end up in the trash one day do to the movement being 💩
ОтветитьHe's obviously a Watch enthusiast and loves every aspect of the watches that they produce, whatever the function or style.
I hope that the Swatch 'Co-Labs' will help to bring new people into this 'wonderful world of watches'?!
always painful to hear americans attempt to speak french (coat day gin ev...yikes)
ОтветитьExcellent video, Teddy! I’ve always like Blancpain, especially the Bathyscaphe line, and this interview adds the human element to the brand. Now they just need to develop a stainless steel version of the bronze gold model, without the moisture indicator, and it will be a smash hit.
ОтветитьLove these vids
ОтветитьMarc given the really disappointing releases this year and the terrible Collab with Swatch I would seriously consider your position as CEO. For years all fans of Blancpain have simply wanted a 40mm - 42mm FF with applied indices that can be comfortably worn. And yet you release watches that nobody has asked for.
ОтветитьFantastic interview. Thank you
ОтветитьWhat a treat to be there in person!
ОтветитьWell done for getting this gig., Respect
ОтветитьReally frustrated that there’s no standard production 40mm FF
ОтветитьI have Leman Tourbillion Big Date. It is a limited edition. It is one of my favorite watches. I do not understand why Blancpain does not get more attention.
Ответить
