Im from the uk. I would like some advice please. I have a virgin isp and they provided me with a router. I have change the setting on the router to make it a modem then purchased a tp link archer ax10 for my router. I then have poe cctv and installed ethernet cables to each room. I have 2 switches under the stairs one is for the ethernet in the rooms the other has poe for the cctv. Would i be better off having one switch that does all of this together. My next question if i already have the archer router when i purchase a mesh system how would i set that up would one unit become another router or could all be satellites. Thanks Barry
ОтветитьI currently have a separate network in my house where there is no internet access, since I only use it for private server access. Right now, I am using access point to re-broadcast the WiFi signal, is it possible to setup a mesh network that will replace the AP. Can you recommend any, or can you demonstrate one? Thanks.
ОтветитьQuite well done, and thanks so much. I will recommend to others, and look for further presentations from you.
Ответитьgreat info thank you
ОтветитьTP link. 75 PRO IS THE BEST 👌. I can't see cable and internet companies coming out with twenty two gig speed at any time in the next few years. This should be enough for anybody for a good while until wifi eight comes out. By then maybe you can get fifty gig oh internet.
ОтветитьTOP MARKS MATE👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🙂🙂🙂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎯🎯🎯
ОтветитьDo i have to connect the 1st mesh device right by my main SP router?
Or can i use my SP router in Ground floor and the other 3 on different 3 floors to have all 4 floors covered?
I have a Google Wifi Mesh system (2/5 GHz) in my 3200 sq foot home with 4 pucks at this point. Despite having the units spread relatively evenly from one end of the house to the other end, I find that the Wifi connectivity is marginal a the fourth unit. Still listed as GOOD signal , but this is while sitting just 3-4 feet from the unit. I've tried repositioning the remote units, but haven't seen any appreciable improvement in signal strength. Just 5-6 feet through the wall into the garage, the signal goes to weak, and 20 feet further by the garage door, it's nearly non-existent. I plan on adding one additional puck in the garage, but not sure that will improve things much. I've heard that Wifi 6(e) is really great and really fast compared to the 2/5 that I have. I've also heard that the signal strength through walls is worse with the 6(e) than with the 5. Is it worth shelling out nearly $400 for a three unit Google 6 Wifi, or should I just stick with my Wifi 5. I know TP link is supposedly much better, but the price is ourageous.
ОтветитьSo the main mesh router needs to be plugged into the modem?
Ответитьwill any mesh work with any other system? Will google mesh work with cox router? or do you stick to 1 system?
ОтветитьAny VLAN support for, say, separate IoT, from Guest, from main LAN?
ОтветитьThanks for a helpful video
ОтветитьIt'd be nice to see real world information on how mesh work when both wired and non-wired. Lots of these videos cover and hyper the speed but its always wired. Lets see some practical info on non-wired speeds in these mesh systems. Thanks!
Ответитьi dont need it for home use. i need them for outdoors to connect many computers over a large area using a mesh system. its my life proyect. please let me know if such equiment have been created?
ОтветитьTried Zyxel's mesh solutions but ended up ditching it for cabled access points, mesh just doesn't work well unless you live in typical american homes with plaster and cardboard walls.
ОтветитьSuper helpful. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьGoing with the mesh system, thanks!
ОтветитьHelpful video thanks
ОтветитьHi Steve...invaluable info for us as we just started to look at buying a mesh system and have been completely overwhelmed. This video is amazing. We have most of the devices that you mention but how do we handle TV's hooked up to IPTV boxes? Will they need to have something hooked up at each TV, therefore, I need to buy a system with more hubs? Thanks,
ОтветитьI have TP Link deco X60/AX5400 wifi 6 mesh system 3-pack installed recently in my house provided by the broadband provider.
I can easily move any 2 of it to any corner I like in my house to obtain the best signal, the main MESH must connected with the modem at fix point to send the wifi signal.
This MESH system much much much better compared to the old system which was only equipped with ONE FIX point to send signal. I am very satisfied with it !
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Steve...by the way, are you related to the guy who plays Rick on Magnum PI? :)
ОтветитьI have a mesh wifi called Mercusys Halo S12... im not sure if i need to connect to the wifi router still or just connect to the mesh wifi?
ОтветитьCan I merge a Samsung mesh system with a Google mesh system?
ОтветитьI believe I already have a Google mesh system with 1 point, I would like to add another point to my existing setup.
Ответитьmy wi-fi keeps cutting out will mesh wifi help?
ОтветитьDon’t recommend these at all. I bought a pack of 3 Deco X20s and they consistently failed to set up my network. Meanwhile my other router did just fine.
ОтветитьYepie, where’s my money, I want to throw it away to support all chickens running away with my money .
ОтветитьJust put in my first mesh system (erro 6 pro) base with two wired nodes and man what an improvement in coverage - being able to walk from room-to-room without changing connections is game changing. AND THE SPEED!
ОтветитьI have mesh wifi using TP Link deco S7 and I get great speeds now all over my home and garden. Very impressed and also extremely easy set up with never any drop zones.
ОтветитьJust piggy back. Take an old wifi router, disable it , and put a LONG cat five into it into. Then put the other end into the main router and VIOLA the wifi is extended
ОтветитьCan't I just plug in a cheap DHCP disabled wifi router and make it a "mesh"? It's much muuuuchhh cheaper. It's dumb to futureproof tech toy as those things gets cheaper with time and especially you don't have a device that is compatible? Why spend more now when you can get it for cheaper or free later??
Ответитьis there any special things you have to do with an att modem to set up a mesh system
ОтветитьThank you for breaking it down. Works with your existing modem , others lack to refer to that👍👍👍
ОтветитьI already have a wireless router from ISP. Does it still make sense to buy a mesh system?
ОтветитьHi, if i have 3 of the mesh unites connected on the ethernet cable, can i add a 4th that will use the wireless backhaul? or is this combination not possible?
ОтветитьSteve, I presently live in Trinidad. I don't think my local ISP supports WiFi 6 0r 6E tech or have plans to do it anytime soon. If I were to purchase a WiFi 6E compatable mesh network is it the only benefits I would really get from it now is the triband cabality where the traffic on the internal network can managed on the 3rd band freeing up my 2.5Ghz and 5G networks???
ОтветитьBaller review! You explained things really well and I appreciate the wifi 7 heads up
ОтветитьI have recently installed WIFI cameras in my house. My connection is sometimes spotty. Do you think a Mesh network would help with this, and will I have to reconnect everything in my house to the new network.
ОтветитьBiggest boon of WiFi 7 will be the multi gig support at its core. I would expect competition to follow TP Link by offering multi gig ports on their mesh hardware units.
Dual 10G plus dual 2.5 ports is extremely nice. That's a big part of the price tag they're charging, for sure.
Yes going to buy a mesh WiFi system. Now to figure out the best one for my network.
ОтветитьHow does a mesh system work for hi res music streamed in the basement? I don’t have an Ethernet cable in the basement so I need a strong wifi signal .
ОтветитьGreat video, just what I needed, thanks
ОтветитьLike all your videos, this one is very informative. We inherited a complete cat6 wired home with Ruckus box and WACs on each floor, although they were installed about three years back. Don't know enough about them, but do you think a Wi-Fi-6 or 6E will give better performance when connecting to TVs in each room, multiple devices and security cameras? Was considering installing PoE cameras, but not sure if an ethernet wire from these would power them.
ОтветитьSo I know this is obviously different because it’s a mesh system, but do this and Google Fiber have the same goal in mind when it comes to these products? Also, I’m just in a one bedroom apartment. I have a decent amount of products for one person and smart home products… is this worth me doing or probably not make a difference with it just being one person in a small apartment ? Thanks for the help!
ОтветитьIt so obvious that this guy is paid by TP Link. Not worth watching this channel as it's compromised by $.
ОтветитьI have the 2 Asus gaming router Ai mesh backhauled . I have 1gb of fiber speed. So I stream IPTV and my speed is 700 Mbps most of the time on wifi
ОтветитьHi Steve, I installed a mesh network during the pandemic into my 2600 sq feet home. I set up three eero pro 6 around the house. It has improved tremendously but I still have one area that it seems to have trouble and it’s the farthest bedroom from the router.
ОтветитьGreat video! Is it tricky to place several extenders for the best coverage and speed? Can they interfere with each other if they are too close to each other?
ОтветитьI’m just gonna buy the cheaper google wifi 3 pack and hard wire them all throughout the house. I use Walmart Ethernet wire outdoors. So far it’s fine. Been through hot and cold weather for years now. You don’t really need to get the special outdoor Ethernet cables. My only problem is getting a good wifi signal for my front house ring cameras. I have them close to the street and the router signal doesn’t reach that far. I might have to just put a router outside someplace under the roof. Or would a wifi extender be best? Can router wifi signals go through window glass? Or is it still obstructing?
ОтветитьWow WiFi 7 already?!? I had no idea TP link even had the authority to announce that!? Haha
