I actually thought the same thing about the Algarve! I've been there, oh god, about 15 times - including to Carvoeiro - and a lot of the beautiful beaches with their massive rocks do look so similar to these Australian ones! Amazing considering how far away they are!

1 comment, 1 question (I'm sure that you're wincing already! sorry!)

Anytime I have travelled to a picturesque site, such as the sunrise in this video, I see people taking photographs of the natural beauty, which is of course understandable. But let me pass on something that my grandfather told me when he was dying: the photographs don't mean anything to anyone but the photgrapher. After the photographer is gone, it's just another beautiful photograph, likely somewhat lacking in quality compared to those taken by Ansel Adams or some other professional. The key to making photogrpahs mean something is to put some humans in them. Preferably your loved ones, or close friends, or even just people that you met on the trip to the site. Be sure to tag each photo with names, dates (that's automatic nowadays) and maybe a little blurb about the folks in the photo if they aren't the usual subjects. "When you grow old", he said, "and people die or you lose touch with people, it's as if a giant rubber ("eraser" for North Americans) has come and erased your past - the places that you used to go (both man-made, like stores or bars/restaurants, and natural, through residential or business development) are gone, or modified beyond recognition. The only ones who remember the places, who remember the special moments, are all gone. Pictures, then, are the lasting connection. You can prove that you indeed were there in Australia. You can prove that you were there when England won the World Cup (well, if you're 70 years old or so) et cetera. Take photos of the things that truly matter. (PS this isn't meant to be directed to Molly, et al, but toward the other folks who seemed to be taking pictures somewhat aimlessly into nature).

Also, as far as working in Australia, aside from those holding a "former colonies" passport, may one work for a wage in Australia? Things may have changed but many years ago there were quite strict laws on whom may collect a wage in Australia. Americans, at least at one time, were not allowed, for instance. Just wondering...

Love all of your videos, vlogs especially, and so jealous of both your journey and your intrepidness in taking it! Thanks for sharing with us!
