How long do you wait until mowing after seeding?

How did you deal with birds? We tend to lose seed to the birds before it even has a chance to germinate.

How do you know what the weed grasses are? What’s the difference in looks and colour? How do you remove them? Thanks

I reseeded mid October didn’t do much as there was a cold spell. Now it’s coming along nicely nearing its first cut. I still have areas which look bold I’ll try the patching but am I best to reseed again next March or April.

What fertiliser would you recommend to use on newly spread grass seed, especially for this time of year?

Hi, great videos. I watch yours and Robbies of Premier Lawns. So much more relevant to our climate than the American ones. Following you two has enabled me to transform my weed infested bed of moss into a nice lawn. Further work required but it's getting there. Keep them coming. Also, could you tell me what the grass plants are in your borders at 1min 45secs. My girlfriend wants some ornamental dwarf grasses for our raised beds. Thanks in advance.

I applied my Winter Protect Week or so ago, I think that’s me finished for the winter now. There has been so much rain here in the north west (of England) that keeping off it (I think) is probably one of the best things I can do. I may, if we get any kind of dry spell, just give it a light mow on a high setting, not holding my breath though. Does growth continue until first frost or is everything starting to turn dormant from now ?
Thanks for the update.

Hi. I'm in a similar situation to yourself where there are a few bare patches where the seeds didn't seem to germinate. I might give it a couple more weeks to see if anything happens. When is the latest i could throw more seeds down?

Can you tell me please what setting you use the spreader on for the pre seeder fertilizer?

With these autumn leaves, i'm definitely thinking of getting a lighter mower or even a lawn sweeper. I feel i'm doing more harm than good with the ground so wet. Leaf blowing is great but takes to much time.

I love this part of renovations. You get past the point of worrying if it was all worth it and get the beautiful look of the new seed. I’m really impressed with how yours is going! And yeah, the bare patches can be annoying but I can always live with it until spring. I suppose it’s the downside of seeding in autumn instead of spring.

Do you know what that lime green grass is? I seem to have the exact same thing and I’ve never seen it before. I’ve also just bought a fancy new fertilizer. The ICL greenmaster invigorator. Looking forward to giving it a go, and think I’ll be using it all winter

Good vid as always pal 😄

Great progress. You can really see the inconsistent spread of that Scotts spreader, do you ever get burning/inconsistencies because of it?

Great update mate. It always amazes me when seed germinated, I've even seeded in November over the years with a good 80% to 90% germination. 🙏👍
