Just to clarify and I haven't emphasized in the video - with the Ring Alarm Pro you will also need to replace your existing router. Ring recommends it to be the main router and not setup as an extender and it's features like the local recording and the backup internet will only work if it is setup as the main router. So, if you already have a good Wifi and network setup, the Alarm Pro will not be a good option for you and the regular Ring Alarm will.
ОтветитьGreat informational video like always. Thanks dor taking the time to make such great videos. God bless.
Ответить@LifeHackster In the video you said you were upgrading from a first generation base station to the Pro. But the non-pro base station actually had two generations which look identical. Did you upgrade from an actual first generation base station? Or could it have been the second generation of the original model?
ОтветитьDoes the ring alarm pro is it wall mountable like the original alarm base station ? The original had keyholes on the back and I have it mounted . Does the pro have keyholes to be wall mounted ?
Ответитьcan you add another base station and use it as an extra siren/alarm?
ОтветитьCan you show the part where you have to configure your cellular carrier? I use T-Mobile
ОтветитьSo if you don’t have an erro router do I need to bridge the router to have the erro work properly?
Ответитьi like a keyfob arm disarm
ОтветитьIt sounds like with the Ring Pro you are essentially giving full read access to Amazon of your home internet activity. Or am I missing something?
ОтветитьDecided against the pro because i'm happy with my home network. Needing to replace my router was a deal breaker. This should be emphasized in any review of this product.
ОтветитьReally appreciate your efforts. I watch your channel often. I'm hoping to find a review that will dive into the frequency strength. I have some extenders that tend to cut out. I want to know the first gen or second gen alarm and extenders and the other devices have stronger or weaker frequency strength. That kind of review would be very helpful. Thank you for all you do.
ОтветитьWhere is the sound of the Siren coming from with this system?
Is it from the keypads or the actual base
I just spoke to one of the ring representative in according to him, who ever have services with since 2020 or 2021 they won’t have to pay $20 until 2025. The plan of $100 a year will stay the same with base station pro.
ОтветитьMAAN CHECK YO MAIL
ОтветитьJust to clarify.. does buying a pro alarm REQUIRE the “pro”subscription ($200/year)? Would the “plus” subscription not work?
ОтветитьThank you for the video. I only like to propose a scenario and see the outcome. In your video, you put in a power outage scenario and what happened: the cellular wifi quicks in. Okay, what if my modem is covered with a UPS? In a power outage, would this base station transmit wifi from the internet in the wired cable? In other words, if you unplug the power cable from the base station, does the wifi router still work?
ОтветитьMy ring 2nd gen. alarm has cellular backup & already have an excellent wi-fi 6 router. In fact, even if ring offered to upgrade me from my 2nd gen alarm to the pro alarm I wouldn't do it. Screw the ring alarm pro...
ОтветитьLifehackster enjoy all your videos because they have helped me so much in the past with ring products and I have another question if I upgrade to the ring alarm pro ring tells me I can just plug the pro into my cable providers router modem combo with the Ethernet cable like my existing base station. I use it that way but my question is the eero Wi-Fi is just for the ring devices and if so what is the difference between my first gen and the pro
ОтветитьHave they fixed the issue of it sticking in cellular back up mode? Or do you still have to manually reset?
ОтветитьDo you need to have the ring alarm pro base as your primary eero 6 pro? In other words, do I have to connect it to my spectrum modem as my wifi router and not as another "extender" ? the reason im asking is because I'm currently using the eero 6 pro E (support faster internet, the regular 6 pro only goes up to 1mbps speed i believe )connected to my Spectrum modem. I also have ethernet ports on the wall around the house, so if I use it as an extender, it would be hardwired to the network. help! UPDATE, didnt see your pineed comment, it answers my question, hgopefully they dont come out with an upgrade soon as a 6 pro e....
ОтветитьGreat video of the Ring security system.
ОтветитьCan you help me, I’m considering this pro system, which smart door lock with work with this system so alarm can be disabled
ОтветитьAll wireless alarms jammable . Plus with Ring keep in mind all it takes is an easy leo request for access to get footage both live and stored . Leave the home to go someplace and get accussed of a crime guess what officer friendly gets the footage of ya leaving the home .
ОтветитьThanks. Very helpful review.
I live on Guam (US territory.
Could I install here & get the monotoring service as well?
It would save me a Bundle compared to local security here. Thanks
If it ain't broke, don't replace it!
ОтветитьIf they want this to REPLACE my current wifi router then they should provide more than 1 Ethernet slot
ОтветитьHello Mr lifehackster ...I have 1 question I want to self monitor and have 24/7 backup and cellular backup .. so do I get the regular or the pro model system? Thank you for all your hard work.
ОтветитьHi LH; how would this work if I always have an orbi mesh that I wanna keep as my main mesh ? Thanks
ОтветитьWhat if you already have a Wifi Mesh System and you only want to use the wifi for all your sensors?
ОтветитьWhat happened to the old base station? Can it be use as a extender?
ОтветитьI love your content man!
ОтветитьCan I disable to router, or do I have to use it?
ОтветитьDoes anyone know how to reduce the volume of the siren? Or if that's not possible can a different siren be wired to the rest of the system.
ОтветитьI absolutely cannot get my Ring Alarm Pro to broadcast my Wifi signal.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong… because I follow the setup directions exactly.
Is my internet service just not compatible with using a different router, other than what comes with the service?
Kaya idol ka namin boss
ОтветитьYour videos have been very helpful, many thanks. I'm still a little confused as to what version of Ring security would be best for me. I am using a Google mesh wifi system which works very well. If I got the Ring Pro would that mean I should discontinue the Google mesh? Or could I just use a Ring 2nd gen system and hook it in with the Google Mesh 🤔. Also if I went with the Ring 2nd gen system could I still subscribe toe the yearly Ring monitoring program? Thanks for your help. 😀
ОтветитьHey thanks LifeHackster for all the great info. I been binge watching your videos. We are thinking of putting in a security system, 2 floodlight cameras (one front & one back of the house) and a doorbell camera.
1. Do I need contact sensor for all my doors and windows on the 1st floor? I heard that it was recommended.
2. How strong of an internet do I need? right now we have 300Mbps download from Xfinity. Do you have a video on internet/wifi requirement for home security systems?
Thanks for any help that you can provide.
Does the pro annouce what door is open? "Front door" vs "garage door"??
ОтветитьI have a question for you I have one ring camera that's wired that's that keeps saying you're being recorded but I can't find any way to turn it off any suggestions and it's only 1 of like 8 Doing it Is any help would be great?
ОтветитьQuestion! Anybody went through from Eero Pro 6 mesh into Ring Alarm Pro? Can I just replace gateways put same old wifi credentials into Ring unit and keep my devices connected?
Thank you!
I heard that Ring videos are slow to load on some people's phones, but the new router w/ local SD storage solved that problem with much faster loading speeds on their phones. However, if using local SD for storage then it sounds like you don't get the 30 days storage in the cloud. Is this correct?
ОтветитьWhat do you think of the Eero router that comes with the alarm pro? In another video the person says that it doesn't handle a lot of devices well. I have a lot of devices connecting as well as my wife does. I am thinking of getting the pro and just using the Eero network for a guest connection or possibly just put the ring devices on it. Also it looks like the Eero 6 doesnt support 1gb speeds?
ОтветитьI’m considering the Ring pro system myself after trouble with Vivint. How does the system stack up against similar competitors and how well does the mesh router handle multiple devices?
ОтветитьSo you can’t pull the card and copy the video footage down? That’s messed up.
ОтветитьWhat’s the internet speed with the build in eero 6 router? Does it really support up to 900mbps?
ОтветитьIs it true that this isn’t compatible with the Retrofit Kit??
ОтветитьI DON'T have a ring security system but I DO have ring security cameras WITH ring Plus subscription for 100/yr...will I qualify to be grandfathered in with my 100/yr professional monitoring that I already currently have if I get the security alarm pro system?
Ответить
