The drip feed is not worth it. Just buy a miyoo mini and put EVERYTHING on it then your sorted
ОтветитьGood video.
Yes the service is getting better.
You will need an internet connection to play your games out and about.
Also the advantage with the virtual console you could pay for the games once and didn't have to pay every month.
Also you could pick your favourites.
You didn't have to pay for games you didn't want. But it is nice to try new things out if you are not sure.
Lack of ownership is a problem.
I hope the Wii u manual feature comes to Nintendo switch online.
I found this very useful.
I wish all the online games were just one app like ps4 and xbox. Hate I have 5 or so apps on my main menu that could just be one with all games on it.
ОтветитьI don't really think it's worth all the money. It took them to the end of it's life cycle and it's still very lackluster. You can't own the games that are online, u can't even download them for offline play if u want to go outside. The entire Switch OS in itself is lackluster. I don't understand why Nintendo is being so slow with optimizing everything. The Eshop is still slower than ever, no fun music, games are ported slow to online etc. Ugh.. Nintendo loves to do things one step behind the bare minimum
ОтветитьJust imagine pokemon on gameboy if pokemon company weren't money hoarding vampires.
We could battle online just for the fun of it
Complete dex by trading online ( and even using their bad service know as pokemon home to make us hostage)
They still need to allow you to play every handheld game with friends online like they do with all of the console NSO apps, instead of just the online ones.
I've played so many single player SNES, NES, and GEN games for the first time because my friend and I could take turns online
I also wanted to do the family plan but I don't have friends 😀 I also tried looking on those sites made to share accounts, but you have to pay monthly and it's kinda tedious, and also while it should be €0,72 every month, they take €1,72 instead.
If anyone wants to make a family plan with me I'm here 😶🌫 (I'm European btw, i guess we all have to be from the same region)
I understand a lot of the complaints of Switch Online, but man I’ve loved the service.
ОтветитьJust to add, the "SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics" collections on PC do have online multiplayer
Ответитьme when I lie
ОтветитьPerfect timing, I was just thinking of resubbing to replay Golden Sun, but there's so much else to sink my teeth into.
ОтветитьEh...it's ok, but I'm guessing if they added a free tier without the games etc. and just online play/save backups their subscription numbers would drop drastically. People are not paying $20 a year because they love the emulated games, they're paying because it's the only way to play Switch games online. It's not like the online play is any more stable now that people are paying for it, it's the same glitchy mess that was free on the Wii/DS/3DS, just now with a compulsory payment - and they throw in the stale breadcrumbs of first-party games they've re-released countless times as a weak compensation for the fee.
ОтветитьI hope they eventualy get DS and 3Ds games on NSO
Ответить🙂🎇🎆💫✨️
ОтветитьI’m gonna be real. If it took 6 years, a pay walled membership, no path to ownership, and a drip feed of games for it to become worth it then its ABSOLUTELY not worth it because every addition feels like a side step. Why can’t they do it like PlayStation where if the games are there you could buy em at a discounted price? they keep adding games from different consoles, but you can’t own any of them and if you take the portable console on the goal then everything you’re paying for goes down the drain.
ОтветитьNo. 80 dollars a year to be drip fed roms is not "worth it"
ОтветитьI subscribed to the expansion pass for the first time a couple of months ago, and i don't know if id say its "worth it," more like its okay.
The base NSO gives us so many good Snes games thankfully, and some decent NES and Gameboy games.
Expansion pass, though, still needs a lot of work. N64 library is probably the best of the expansion passes, but even then im just in it for the Zeldas. The GBA library is a joke even with the new addition of golden sun. Half of the gba games on there you could already play on the SNES library already.
I think the nso games need like a big update coming up instead of just drip feeding games here and there. Its crazy that the Wii U still has a vastly superior virtual console than the switch after all this time.
My only complaint with the service now is the lack of local multiplayer options for the NES, SNES, and N64 apps. For GB and GBA, they have the option to connect 2 switches locally to play without online. I thought they had this option for the other apps as well and was disappointed when I tried to play a game of Mario Party 2 on a road trip with friends
ОтветитьVirtual Console games, eShop ports, and hard copies are more worth it when region-free. The NSO is region-free by switching countries in a profile.
ОтветитьAs soon as it has Pokémon gen 1-3 and any smash bros, I’ll call it good. Put up Kirby air ride and Nintendo can have a Nobel prize.
ОтветитьNo, it is not.
Ответить50 dollars
ОтветитьIconic voice
ОтветитьThe service is convenient, but I can't move past the 'rental' aspect of it. Whether it's in 3 years or ten, Nintendo will close these servers and we lose access to these games.
ОтветитьTake a shot everytime Jon says NSO
ОтветитьI wish they would just port older games without feeling the need to remaster them if they're too niche to justify a full remaster. I'd love to see a port of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for example. That game is really expensive now, so having a port on Switch for like $50 or something would be great.
ОтветитьBuying it for Golden Sun. There are a few other things I want to play, but Golden Sun was the baseline for me.
ОтветитьIn my case would be worth if other N64 games will arrive (precisely the Rare's ones and Smash Bros. 64)
ОтветитьI pay for pokémon's online features and that's it... and F-Zero because it's rad!
ОтветитьLow voice high voice lowwwwww
ОтветитьI used to really root for this service but at a certain point you gotta realize that retroarch is still free to this day, and has way more options and no pointless library limitations. These companies don't need to still be making money off of games that came out 30-40 years ago. Just emulate folks
ОтветитьWith the ability to sail the high seas I still can’t justify the price. Nintendo are dripfeeding us and restarting their retro library every generation so they are basically asking us to.
ОтветитьAgreed - I feel like NSO is really worth it by now. All the great retro games, the DLC and smaller bonuses like the profile pictures and even games like Tetris 99 and F-Zero 99. I'm also part of a family membership, therefore having to pay such a small amount to get access to all this content is just awesome. We also have our own weekly Game Club inspired by GVG's own Game Club and it's so much fun to experience those games, oftentimes for the first time even! There's always something to sink your teeth into. Thank you for the great video on the topic, Jon!
ОтветитьIt's a me, Worio.
ОтветитьSay what you will about subscription renting model vs. owning physical games, but I think Nintendo is doing a decent job of keeping the most wanted library of games available to the general audience, so that the physical game aftermarket doesn't blow up like a mushroom cloud. Of course not all games are available, but the curated best ones are.
ОтветитьNintendo is an insanely greedy POS foreign corp posing as a fair and friendly company enriching your family. It deserves no praise.
ОтветитьGargoyle's Quest was one of the first Game Boy games I ever played. Absolute masterpiece, and it's a shame that the series vanished after Demon's Crest.
ОтветитьTwo things I'd like to say.
One - I love that when Sony announced legacy content for a PS+ tier my PS-only friends said Sony would show Nintendo how it's done. And then Sony has been releasing not only much less content but less interesting as well.
Two - I don't think Pokémon main games will release on NSO. To me, it makes much more sense for them to sell them on the eShop for $10 a copy and offer easy access to Pokémon Home, for instance. Not only will they make much more money this way, but on NSO that connection wouldn't exist IMO and they'd have to disable save states and rewind anyway.
So it took the entirety of switch’s lifecycle for NSO to become worthwhile..
ОтветитьThe problem is that no one really plays any of these games.
ОтветитьThe drip feed was really crap, but I do think the service has been quite good since they released gameboy. I think Nintendo could do so much more with it and I hope they do, but I’ve played through some of my favourite games and even played some games to the end for the first time ever thanks to Switch Online. These are games I would not have bought on virtual console, and lack of ownership just doesn’t bother me at all - the option to purchase would still be welcome though.
Switch is now at the point where I am seriously considering selling my old consoles because I have about 80% of my favourite games past and present. Be that in NSO or eShop.
I only need the Quintet Trilogy (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma), and then I'm fully fine. 😁
ОтветитьThey need to double down on the 1st party DLC on the expansion pack. Too little value there still. Personally I’d like to see all the 2D systems on the standard tier, and 3D systems + all 1st party DLC on the higher tier (maybe 2 years after release?) That would be the dream setup.
ОтветитьNot only do I personally enjoy the Nintendo Switch Online service, but I would honestly pay even more if Nintendo were to expand it to include deeper cuts from the earlier consoles as well as Gamecube and maybe even games from Sega Saturn/Dreamcast. Nintendo has cornered a particular corner of the streaming market that nobody else has focused on, and they can continue being successful with ongoing support and expansion.
ОтветитьNo it's not, Miyamoto should be in prison
ОтветитьI don’t think it’s that good enough since there’s no lack of third party support on nes and snes for major third party companies.
ОтветитьNo.
ОтветитьI’ve actually cancelled my subscription. I don’t like subscribing to this kind of thing when they can just remove games whenever they want and I don’t own them.
Ответить
