Do you have a video on QEMU-KVM?.. I read this is also a Type 1 hypervisor that runs in kernel space.

From only a performance point of view (no need for remote access), will Proxmox installed on a 4 year old Ryzen 7 laptop run better/quicker than running Fusion on an M1 Mac? I just got a used MacBook Pro, and Fusion runs very well. Of course limited to ARM based distros, but Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora all have them. To be clear, this would just be a project for me, I have no real need to do this 😊 Thanks for any input!

Using virt-manager/libvirt is the same as using proxmox. Proxmox is just debian with a nice interface to libvirt/kvm/qemu.

Can you only run proxmox VMs through the web interface on another computer than proxmox is installed on? Or can I install proxmox on my main desktop computer while also run the VMs on that same machine? Just so that I can run multiple machines on one computer instead of dual boot multiple systems or such? All my laptops are so weak and I would want to be able to run games in windows as one example, so I don't want to install proxmox on the laptop.
Also, if this is possible to do... Does it induce any latency compared to running a OS natively?

How is proxmox a bare metal install, it uses Debian OS to operate from. The fact that it does not use a DE+window manager, just makes it an application running under Debian Linux, it uses KVM for VM's - how is that different from using a Linux distro with QEMU/KVM with virt-manager etc. It is however top-notch VM manager via it's web interface/console etc. Why is it considered a Hypervisor 1 ???

Proxmox VE is a type 2 hypervisor, so they say themselves.
You can use virtmanager with KVM/XEN as a type 1 hypervisor though?

So I consider myself very well versed in virtualization scene but for some reason, I've never heard of this software but my gosh, it just turned an otherwise disaterous laptop breakage mistake into possibly, the most versatile and useful PC carcass in my house. This thing is a dream. Many thanks for this demo.

is it possible to use proxmox for apps only instead of full os ? for example i am using linux but I wanted to use Adobe XD for my App UI development, now i don't want to install / dual boot windows just for only one app, instead can i install adobe xd inside proxmox and access it in linux ?

how if I install two VMs: one is windows 10 another is Linux, if I setup Proxmox correctly, can I run both system locally ( I mean connecto two monitors and one keyboard+mouse to the local PC) without remote connection through web page console?

So what would be the advantage of this over just installing Windows on a 2nd PC and controlling it with something like Parsec (other than FOSS software over proprietary)

Do you have any issues running ArcGIS Pro on this, I used to run the old ArcMap on VMs all the time but Pro claims to require a real GPU or iGPU? I have long suspected this only is required for 3D maps. Theres a lot of articles on using a pass through GPU to run pro in a VM.

True story, I had a friend who needed Windows for ArcGIS. I built her a Linux Mint system and set up Windows in VMWare Player. She never had problems after that. But I clearly see the advantage of your method.
