Angolan Traditional Dance on urban beats

Popular Recriativo: a name used in Luanda, Angola to describe the fusion of movements from the most popular traditional dances of Angola.

Here we see a fusion of various Angolan tribal dances being done to urban rhythms. Tribal dances (each movement) often do not have names. The moves are described by using the tribe’s name. These same popular tribal/traditional movements are often seen in Afrohouse and Kuduro Dance as well. Further evidence that Angolan urban dances borrow heavily from Angolan traditional dances.
