My dawn phenomenon starts at 3:00AM according to the CGM. It goes from 120 to 280 when I wake up. I exercise after dinner, not eating after 6pm. Take good load of basal before sleep. Yet my blood sugar still goes high.

I don’t think waking up on 3AM to add insulin dose suites my life style. The pump might work but my precious insurance only cover 50% after $1750 deductible.

I wonder how much does it cost me to get the dialysis.

For high intense exercise you are relating only to a younger group maybe under 50. Those of us in the 60s and 70s are fighting the same battle but many of us can no longer run but can do cardio to a great degree or walk. We do what we can for our age. So just remember who you are talking to in these vids, good info , but dont just refer to a limited group which you are.

Well, at first I had reasonable blood sugars in reward for my new behaviors. I got off of two meds---the expensive ones. But now I have dawn effect. At 5am I'll be about 105, 110 (started up), bedtime 80's or 90's, but at 6am 140 or higher. The longer I fast the higher it goes. I have despaired at lowering this until my body decides to stop betraying me by creating sugar. Even after a first meal near noon it still gives me a horrific 1 hour number. Finally by bedtime it becomes a better sugar more like my actions have deserved. I hear this will eventually stop.

My sister is a type 2 diabetic and takes no medication.. She has lost a lot of weight, kept the carbs low with a strict keto diet and Intermittent fasting. She feels good and has more energy but her fasting blood sugar is still 200. Losing weight, low carb doesn’t seem to helped. Why?

Does this advice still apply with what you are currently eating at the moment? Did you stick with eating more fruit and lower fats like you did on that vegan diet experiment?

When I got my first finger-prick meter in 2019, I discovered "on my own" that if I wanted to see a reasonable level in the morning, I had to stop putting things in my mouth by 6 PM. Instructions for planned blood draws at a lab always say "Nothing after midnight", which really is not at all challenging and misleads people. 6PM is the new Midnight!!!

Ciao. I have been doing intermitent fasting 18h and my body reacted very well. No cravings, no headaches, no anything. I pump up the keto use instead of glucose, by having a morning cup of coffee with cinnamon, safran powder, and MCT coconut oil.
The question is: better skip breakfast and just lunch & dinner, or skip dinner and just brakfast and lunch?
I'm type 2 diabetic.

T1: If I make a healthy(ish) dinner around 6-7pm, then eat nothing else, I tend to have lows at night. So then if I have a snack, sugar goes to around 250 as I sleep. So it’s high all night. But I at least “sleep”. Anyone have that? Anyone have anything I can try?

My approach is when I wake up..always with an alarm clock set at the same time everyday...I will scan my blood sugar and take directly 2 units Aspart after about 1.5 to 2 hours I start making breakfast and take usually 9 units of Humuline regular that will do until about 3 pm then I start with my evening meal and take another 4 to 6 units of Humuline regular depending on how high my blood sugar is before the meal .... that's it for the day...next day the same cycle over and over again.

Once a day at 9.30 I take 16 units Tresiba.

That's my insuline schedule....your welcome 🙏🏻

BTW....I do Carnivore and one avocado a day...the rest 100% animal based foods twice a day. 10 am and 3 pm that's it....

Thanks a lot for the information.
I was on Metformin for 5 years and my sugar tests showed no difference. Then I stopped and started intermittent fasting for 6 months and then OMAD in July. I noticed that my blood sugar in the morning goes to 135 at 8am and then starts to decrease until noon 105-110 before eating. After lunch Keto does not change and reads 110-120. I'm thinking of continuing until my morning sugar drops further from 135 to 110. What do you think?
