this reminds me of homer Iliad the Oddessy and Odysseus journey back to his home Ithaca after the trojan war starting with 14 ships (700 men) and along away back it was just him when his ship got destroyed by Zeus after the cattle was eaten by his men, Odysseus was then stranded on a island Ogygia where he met nymph calypso and stayed with her for 7 years in total Odysseus spent 20 years at sea trying to get back home when it would of been 1 week travel

I love this! I can just imagine Davy Jones being surrounded by the most beautiful sirens. In this way, maybe it was never Calypso that Davy Jones fell in love with, but something far more perilous and selfish, disguised as Calypso. I’m making that my new head canon :D

Think of these lyrics in particular:

I'm standing but my jaw drop so hard it broke the floor

For some reason, in the middle, when it transitions to the darker part, it kind of sounds like one is manipulating the other to do horrible things or even both of them. Like the beginning and end sounds absolutely like a love song, but the middle sounds, like both of them are trying to convince each other to do something horrible because they love them. I don't know that's just me

My tears flowed as the monsoon rains down a sail while listening to this. It's beautiful and heartbreaking.

So this gives me the impression of a woman with two spirits. A kind, normal and the other is a powerful sea goddess. Commanding Davy Jones. To bring her souls and remain at the sea with her.
