I wonder how the car would handle traffic being "manually" directed and controlled when road work is being done OR a police officer directing traffic in a random areafor some unknown reason. Either way, what a fantastic time to be alive to see things like this come to fruition. We thought the Jetson's was cool back in the day seeing all of their futuristic gadgets but seeing simular items in my lifetime is such a wonderful thing :-)

When the vehicle becomes disoriented the controller should ask a licensed passenger to move the vehicle to a safe location. Cruise can compensate you rather than have you sit in traffic waiting for them to dispatch a driver.

I live in downtown Phoenix and most days I am sharing the road with a handful of Waymo cars and I have to say as a driver I've been pretty impressed by them. I thought that I would feel a little uncomfortable with them on the road while I'm on the road but they have cameras and sensors all over them. I've noticed that they will change lanes if another car gets too close. My teenager told me that he and a friend rode in one. I kinda freaked out a little but he said it was a nice ride and cheaper than Uber. I'm thinking about trying it.
