i remember watching this b4 we studied photosynthesis and whatever the name was of the metabolic process for animals, and i watch this and realize for the first time, that i already know something more in depth than a video on it. Fascinating.

One thing that intrigues me is that before that one cell which did its own thing learned to reproduce, there would have been so many other cells or cell-like things which also did their own thing but couldn't reproduce and thus couldn't keep that slinky in motion.

So this escalator is very good at running down it's own slinkies that it created; but at the same time, these same laws don't seem capable of preventing the slinkies from becoming slinkie-life in the first place.

It's as if the universe is uncontrollably creating its own problems that it can never solve. The escalator is good at stopping the individuals after a while, but the very forces that put those individuals into motion is what the universe is powerless to prevent. Wonder just how long this has been going on?
