Jack Bruce said that the role of the bass player is to make everyone else in the band sound better than they actually are.

Ответитьa true bass is a 4 string k cause
ОтветитьTHANK YOU so much for saying it out loud.
my church worship team is great but
they are ALL SHOW OFF.....it was a COMPLETE MESS.
What notes was he playing?
ОтветитьMy dad was an awesome bass player. The Lord called him home a month ago in a tragic accident. He had just bought his dream bass a week prior, an American made fender, that I just inherited. It will be used to glorify the Lord, and I will re-dedicate myself to being a bass player like he was.
ОтветитьEach instrument play together in time and do the very least individually....there,that pretty much sums up all these worship workshops....been to some and this is the prevailing idea.....oh and no amps on stage,in ears, and direct boxes where you can adjust your own mix......and I am a church player.....🤷♂️
ОтветитьI learned a lot
Thanks for this kind of videos tutorials
It sounds like they beat the creativity out of this poor man and molded him into their bass servant. Is simple bass actually serving the song or does the insecure pianist want more room to shine?
ОтветитьThe bass player makes it look easy but he can throw the hole song off
ОтветитьDrums and bass are the foundation...
ОтветитьWho’s job is it to keep the tempo????
ОтветитьI've played bass for about a year and my teacher always says to stick with the kick.
ОтветитьBass is a foundation chord of any song
ОтветитьI dont agree, you need to fill the song with music feeling, in some way people also get inspiration when listen to music with some nice and aditional arragement, is my personal opinion, you can play thoses licks, in a space when the singer is not singing, in silence intervals for example.
ОтветитьMaybe I come in too soon or two much, I will try to be better, but at my church, someone gets up and sings, we figure out what key they are in, and hopeful we can figure out the progression of the song, and half the time I have never heard the song.
I am at least playing as lightly as possible at first to figure out what key we are in.
I like his style of playing
ОтветитьEven tambourine has its role
ОтветитьAs a bass player in a Youth Group band, this is great info and examples!
ОтветитьI play bass at church and this helps me a lot

ОтветитьI really wish I had professional music teachers as this christian brothers so they can educate me on becoming a professional bass player and play for the honor and glory of Jesus, amen.
❤️🙏🏻🔥
Yeah
Bass and drums are connected to each other
The bass and the drummer should mirror each other which basically what the bass player has said. However the instructor seems as though he wants to box the musicians in and thats not a good thing. True musicians shouldnt over play the song but musicians are artist and they should be allowed to paint how they feel it with control. Nobody should tell a soloist how to sing a song because they sing it how they feel it. There is more than one style of music in churches dont get boxed into one style
ОтветитьHow I wish to have or experience a speaker like that🥺
ОтветитьThis is why music in Christendom has been lacking since the time of the great classical composers. it's far too simple and lacks any real feeling or rhythm, or even strong biblical exegeses. it simply lacks the ability to move the soul, and this is why secular music is so prevalent. even various other types of Christian music i.e. metal, rock, etc. would be a greater example of the to the call to excellence in all things, but however it is shunned in churches while more "seeker sensitive" music is typically used even from so called churches that are apostate i.e. Bethel, Elevation, Hillsong, etc.
Ответитьkick pattern, focus on the song, drum and bass is foundation on any song
ОтветитьI don't necessarily believe in fixed roles of instruments in a song. It can vary depending in the kind of song you're playing.
ОтветитьI like the bass player's sensitivity to the importance of the message/words of the song, and not distracting from those by overplaying. There's a time and a place to play simply, and a time to cut loose, and knowing when to do each is key!
ОтветитьI think we should remember that we are talking about a specific opinion of execution as if it constitutes the totality of permissible musical expression within a given genre. What feels good to some, simply doesn't work for others. I agree totally with the practice of locking the bottom (the marriage of drums and bass within the groove) which is prevalent in most known musical works but I also believe that to suggest musicality disintegrates when one instrumentalist or the other gets 'busy' is not only constrictive, but unnecessarily oppressive. In fact, 'busy' is the literal point of certain musical genres and it works efficiently for consumers with a taste for it. Whether or not certain progressions, scales or cadences fit into the song and style are definitely a matter of perception and expectation versus interpretation. I think we should resist the temptation to require the musician to interpret the music within a fixed singular construct because when we do this we close the door on the natural evolutionary process of music itself. Remember every concept that is now considered contemporary is the direct outgrowth of what was once considered traditional. I think that for the music to do what music does (that is elevate as it evolves) it should be free to be whatever it is or whatever it's becoming in the moment of expression and the instrumentalist should be a conduit of that freedom. Musical simplicity is powerful...but music doesn't have to be simple to be effective and we shouldn't require stoicism in music in order to accept the voice of the musician.
ОтветитьThere’s a time and place for fills. Sometimes I do little fills that happen to sync up with a vocal part melody that sounds really nice, but there’s a difference between doing accent fills and small touches to the sound versus taking over the song with walking patterns and popping strings I’m not with that unless it’s in the right place.
ОтветитьThis is the fundamentals of roots reggae the drum and bass are one everything is one it is the heartbeat PLAYING TO JAH
ОтветитьThe guy is right. drum and bass have to fo focus together on the band. Theh have a bigger role, so that means these two have to learn the beat and tempo. And aside from that, discipline is required, so it is very important. That's all. But um, one thing I have to asked. That bass player.... What brand of bass is he using? I couldn't read it since the view is too far.
Ответитьthanks
Ответитьcan u play god is good all the the time
only bass 😅 co'z i want to learn more
Wonderful done mone
Ответитьisang araw magkaroon din ako ng sariling bass guitar na magagamit ko pagtugtog sa church. 😊🙏
ОтветитьAHHHH Jason said the most important thing "He's listening to the kick drum". It's all about support!
ОтветитьI would like to kmow how the bass is equalized.
ОтветитьAs a bass player I use the bass as my voice to sing the song. The bass can't speak words but it can be used as a singer adding in a simple background voice, singing the words of the song. At least that is what I do on the bass, ensuring that I lock in with the drums also...
ОтветитьThe best is bass
Ответитьi'm i the only one that finds the band leader condescending and racist?
ОтветитьGreat sense. Good insight
